That's pretty kick arse and well deserved for the ladies. Couple things jumped out at me. Gonna get an indoor practice field. And is my mind in the gutter but is a "lactation" room just something not needed at baseball fields but needed with softball fields? Or is it really something else and just called that?

It is needed anywhere you can have new mothers that need a place to breastfeed their babies or pump breast milk.

I believe the Reds have a room for feeding of the kiddos as well.

Learn something new every day. Didn't even think of it being for the fans.

They need to pick a year and end softball, for all girls. They should play baseball, we'd have female mlb players by now if we did.

/rant.

I just think if I had a daughter I wouldn't want her to be made to play some beer league sport because 50 years ago some aholes though girls couldn't play baseball.

This stadium will be a massive upgrade over University Field. Very exciting to see the heights that this program, with this coach, can reach in this new stadium.

I know some people will say that this would have been a great spot to build a new baseball stadium. I think softball deserves it more to be totally honest. Taylor Stadium has received upgrades in 1999, 2012, and 2014. It is a lot better ballpark today than it was just a few years ago. University Field is in pretty poor shape and hasn't seen many upgrades. That program with all of its successes deserves something better.

Girls can't play baseball. Or at least thousands of them can't. And that's coming from the father of a daughter who played softball. Could 1 or 2 make it here and there? Sure. But in the meantime you've cut out an opportunity for 1000's if not 10,000's of gals from playing a sport. And college softball is nowhere near a beer league sport.

I'm more of a baseball guy than softball, though I enjoy both. Even with that, I'll be the first to say that softball earned it. Plus, they fill their stadium from time to time so it wasn't just earned but needed. I am convinced baseball will go in next to it when they tear down the Hearnes. Might be 10-15 years down the road but I'm convinced of it.

They fill it more than just "time to time." They averaged a sellout the last 2 years and outdrew the baseball team bigtime.

I wonder how the baseball team feels about this?

Lol, no. You don't really believe that do you? Maybe a knuckleball pitcher, but those guys are outliers to begin with.

There have been women who have played college and Indy leagues before.

I had thought that but wasn't sure if they were actually sell outs. Definitely well earned by the ladies.

Didn't baseball average just over 800? Didn't the old softball stadium only hold like 500?

Hopefully it motivates TJ to put a winning product on the field for a full season. Win...draw fans...get new toys.

Yeah, softball stadium listed capacity is like 500 but I think they averaged over 1200. Might be closer to 1k.
