Guy's from LA, coached DB at Arizona, then a GA at OU, then coached DB at North Texas before doing the same at Memphis. 29 years old. Not seeing a pedigree of recruiting in the SEC territory that I thought they could take advantage of this position for.

I'm ok with it. We need some youth on the staff. I'm going to assume he's going to come in very energetic and hungry with something to prove.

Looks like GP let Odom bring a guy in. If he picked him, I'm cool with it.

Didn't Grinch come from somewhere out west?

I like the pedigree. Coached at Arizona & Oklahoma with the Stoops brothers. That's good experience. Was also a solid player at Colorado. Memphis also had a bunch of interceptions last year.
Not sure what kind of recruiter he is, but this sounds of Odom making his mark.

I have no doubt he's a fine young coach. But dammit, when are we going to hire an SEC recruiter?!?

I suppose, but he's hardly been in one place long enough to pick up much. He will definitely get his shot and as was said, his youth should be an asset on the recruiting trail.

Grinch came from New Hampshire and Wyoming and made inroads in Georgia. Hopefully this guy can too.

P-D's rundown
LINK

He coached at North Texas and you gotta believed he at least observed the hardcore Texas recruiting at OU.

Steckel and Grinch were our Texas guys. Real easy to assume Odom and Pinkel see this guy as our new Texas guy.

Hard to believe Odom would want the guy and MU would add him if Odom did not believe he will be part of the recruiting solution here.

It's impossible to question the staff after the 2015 class, but I thought they were going to get the Mizzou alum at TCU (forgot his name), but this new guy is young and should be ready to fight in the SEC area.

MUtigers.com

Official announcement. If he's as good as Odom makes it sound the 3 biggest/best recruiting done by the staff this year will be Odom/Kool/Walters.

Small sample, Memphis finished 13th in INT's, and 20th in pass defended.

Tiger97, Grinch worked in GA. Last cycle, I believe Kul started to work that area as well.

If I remember correctly, Henson was the recruiting coordinator for LSU. What is his area of responsibility? Or does he have one?

Henson covered Oklahoma, LA, AR and maybe Texas. Since becoming OC, I think he primarily gets called in to help sell the offense to high priority recruits. Especially OL recruits since that's his area of expertise.

I assume Odom will do the same on high priority defensive recruits. Go wherever they are.

My bad. Just quoting a Matter tweet -
When asked today about not signing any Texas kids, Pinkel noted that Steckel & Grinch recruited Texas, MU wants to keep recruiting there

I knew Grinch was our main guy in GA. Just assumed he helped in TX as well from this tweet.

He did. Wouldn't be surprised to see Odom and Walters hit the Texas area hard. Think they already have Kul working Georgia in place of Grinch.
