Most memorable and forgettable family experience

First daughter being born, and divorce, longest six months of my life.

I placed my father's death in the memorable column because I will never forget it nor do I want to forget it. I think he spoke to me more in his death than the 10 years prior to his death. He spoke to me in an incredibly intense rush of amazing memories full of love and compassion. He most definitely was holding my hand in the days after his death, and I learned more from that experience than any experience thus far in my life.

In hindsight his death was the most "fatherly advice" he could give me.

Memorable:

Birth of our son

A surprise birthday gift of hot air ballon ride with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries

Receiving a bouquet of flowers at my place of work, sent by my husband to cheer me up when our son left home to attend college

A month we spent vacationing in Europe....loved it all, but Rome was the best!

Forgettable:

I don't remember.

Memorable:
Family vacations to Disney, Playa Del Carmen and Destin. I love vacations with my family.
Also, watching my daughters perform: soccer, dance, softball.
Their births were obviously special.
Moving into our new home.

Most forgettable:
Saying goodbye. My little sister lives in Israel, my little brother in China. No bueno.

Crashing my Ural cycle

Wasn't really a family experience,...thank goodness, but worthy of forgetting!

I have no idea what would be the most memorable or forgettable, but my most impactful event was suffering brain damage in an accident.

I woke up out of a coma (thinking it was still the same day) and I was wondering how family members from all over the country got here so fast. I guess they prepared them for the worst, that I wouldn't ever wake up or have a limited brain capacity.

I was told it'd likely take me about a year if I ever learned to walk again. My first day didn't go so well and then I was fine by my second.

Memorable- My lil gal being born. Can't believe it has been 4 years already.

Forgettable- My ex wife and that whole crap relationship/divorce process.

Thankfully the fiancee has made relationships awesome again for me.

M: Every kid being born.

F: Death of my Mom, and my siblings going to war to keep each other from getting anything. The lawyers won.

This is a tough one. Lots of memorable experiences.

One I've been thinking of a lot lately is the first time I remember seeing the ocean, on a family vacation with my cousin. We ran down the beach, through the sea oats and into the Florida surf, laughing and splashing each other. Then posed for the obligatory photo op. This is especially poignant, given his suicide 2 weeks ago. So that particular memory is close right now.

Another very powerful memory is being by my brothers bedside, holding his hand as he took his last breath and went to a far better place. I contrast that memory with all the beautiful ones I have of us over the years.

Forgettable? More like ones I wish I could forget.

Another of my favorites is of a day I spent with my MaMa. She and I went out on the farm with buckets, to the wild blackberry bramble. I don't know why she picked me to go with her because I ate as many berries as I put in my bucket! But we picked all the ripe berries, went back to the house and made the best blackberry cobbler I've ever eaten. Crust from scratch, sweet berries, homemade vanilla ice cream. Perfect day. And a nicer memory.

I guess my memories are more of snapshot, halcyon days, or supremely sorrowful, powerful experiences. I'm weird, I guess.
