Kansas City is fourth most exciting place (in Missouri)

Kansas City Business Journal

Kansas City finished off the podium, according to a new list of the "10 most exciting places in Missouri" released by Movoto, a real estate research website.

Kansas City was ranked No. 4, behind St. Louis, Rolla and Columbia.

Of Kansas City, the website wrote: "Clearly the most exciting of the Kansas Cities, this one ranked well in our analysis for a hopping nightlife, tons of music venues, plus a variety of arts and entertainment options per capita."

The website compiled this ranking by looking at all the cities in Missouri with a population of 10,000 or more. Then, using census and business listings, they compiled data around seven different criteria: nightlife per capita, live music venues per capita, active life options per capita, arts and entertainment per capita, fast food restaurants per capita, percentage of restaurants not fast food and percentage of young residents (ages 18-34).

fast food restaurants per capita,

These are why Rolla is in the list.

8,000 college students in a town of 20,000. Also, the number of fast food restaurants per capita is about 1:1 in Rolla. True story.
