No one held a gun to his head when he took the job. He should have tipped his hat to his players, acknowledged that it didn't go as planned, and headed down to Puckett's for a plate of brisket, smoked Gouda mac n cheese, and a beer.

Next.

When they hired Kim, folks weren't exactly lining up to take the job. Now they may have had a good chance at hiring an up-and-comer mid-major (which would probably have been the right hire in hindsight), but I don't think there were any established high-major coaches that were willing to take on this mess. Couldn't pay Marshall enough, C. Martin had just taken a different job and couldn't hire someone like Howland/Sampson because of the NCAA baggage. I don't think he was their best option, but they didn't have markedly better options.

Today, the roster is solidified (it's not great but I think they've recruited well enough that they'll at least provide depth in years 2 and 3 of the next guy that comes in with higher ceiling players) and they're at least talking about poaching someone from another high-major program.

I think he was essentially right in that his job turned out to be the guy who was supposed to make the program healthy enough, roster-wise, reputation-wise with the NCAA, to hire someone better in a few years. And he did that. Turned out he was not the guy to take it to the next level, but I really do think the program is in better shape than it was when he got here.

To take my crappy analogies to the next level, in Haith's last year I think the tree had tons of green leaves but the roots were rotting; now I think it's the opposite. Yeah, all the leaves have fallen off the tree and it looks like garbage, but the roots are solid and here very soon, with the right guy at the helm, the damn thing may actually start growing again.

Ya a decent coach, with maybe a solid late pickup should be able to get at least a .500 record next year.

I think you need to address your own personal issues and maybe how you view your own place in this world.

I'm not saying he doesn't know how to coach. I'm saying he was in way over his head here. He doesn't have the capacity to handle a job like this and that's painfully obvious.

What did Haith leave, specifically, that is in better shape now?
Cool. Maybe we can get him back. Hope Sterk is talking to him

I agree. He may bleed black and gold but he was in so far over his head he couldn't see daylight. KA was a perfect example of the dreaded Peter Principle. Someone great at their lower level job who is woefully unable to perform at their current level.

KA was a solid lower division coach and he was good at that job. Now its obvious that was his ceiling. Nothing wrong with that.

Haith sucked too. We just happened to find a coach that was actually worse after he left.

Let's try going the other direction this time.

Why in the frick are we arguing about KA and Haith?

We've got bigger fish to fry.

Who gives a shite about two coaches that history will forget?

I call BS on that part. Some issues? Sure. Anymore than so many other schools? Not a chance.

KA had a roster full of thugs.

Every single roster in America has some thugs on it. Some good guys but some thugs. They all don't suck arse because of it. Quit with the excuses. I like Kim Anderson. Alot. As a person. He was horrible as a head coach at Mizzou.

This roster is no where close to what KA had when he started. Fact.

Except for JW3 the roster was absolute shite when he started. May be even shittier now. But at least the guys want to play and fight. And this one can be built off of. Unlike Haith's piece of shite roster

He was handed the keys to a dumpster fire.

He was the wrong person at the wrong time, and Alden did it for spite.

Had He taken over for Suitcase, i think he would of has more success, but it was going to be a cluster fark after that shithead Haith took over and left the dumpster fire.

It is what it is, and time to move on.

We'll just agree to disagree. I think with the right coach, JW3, Clark, Gant, Wright could have been a decent base to work with. Wasn't the most talented kid around but attitude and work ethic doesn't get much better than Rosburg's. Unfortunately, we'll never know.

Exactly. There was talent on that squad. Enough talent to be a lot better than we were. Then you add in the fact that KA couldn't hold onto any of it.

You think Puryear, Gant, J3, Woods, Wright, Barnett, Walton, Phillips, Hughes might have been a pretty good squad?

NCAA is about recruiting. Kim can't recruit. He couldn't even get people from St.Louis or KC to come to Mizzou. The guy had 3 years to clean house and bring in his own guys. His guys can't hit the broadside of a barn. Say he stayed and won 12-15 games next year. Year five he wins 15-18. Year 6 he breaks 20 wins. 7 fricking years to get back to the NIT? Yea no thanks.
