This is a solid diagnosis of a guy you've never met or spoken to before. We have some of the leading medical minds here on the SEC Rant Mizzou board

That has to be expected at this point.

Making excuses for poor behavior is nothing new

It's not an excuse. An associate of mine has a whole practice devoted to athletes of all sports. Athletes work their asses off to get where they are. And as with alot of devotions, if you put 99% of your effort in 1 place another place will come up short. And mental health seems to be that place.

1 in 5 NCAA athletes are walking around right now considering an actual suicidal plan. 67% have had ideation. And the numbers get higher for HS.

Social media is a real problem because athletes are entertainers. It's a real blow to them when their target audience turns on them.

Often we mistake physical prowess with mental strength. When the truth is, over dependence on physical prowess often stagnates and slows down mental maturity.

When is bad behavior, just that, bad behavior?

He missed the bus to Wichita state
He missed the plane to Miss St.

He had a history at mo st of cutting class and missing practices.

When his portal recruitment started, he had offers from Duke, Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma etc,

He had no time for Missouri.

Then one by one, the offers from the bluebloods were pulled, and he falls into our lap.

Why is that?

Sometimes it's OK to Acknowledge that it's the person and his attitude that's the problem, and not look for excuses as to why one makes bad decisions.

There was a rumor about him leaving the scene of an accident right before the season started, and then missed the court date which was pushed back to the day of another game. I dont believe it, since that appears like he should have been arrested.

It’s not a fact or diagnosis it’s just a theory from seeing similar situations first hand with college athletes and at work.

After working in management for 20 years you know a lot of the signs when employees are struggling. A lot of people on the board have helped with training classes and/or gone to training. Through experience and training you learn to help employees.

In a good work environment you don’t fire employees you help and listen. In the long run this helps to have better employees. It looks like that is what Gates is doing with Mosley.

Gates is a good coach. If Mosley was just being lazy, missing practice’s, missing team meetings, and being a cancer to the team Gates would have kicked him off by now.

We should find out the real reason before long.

That’s not completely accurate.

Why is that?

Mosley declared for the draft and had his name in the draft pool until May. Early on and before he declared some mock drafts had him going in the 2nd round. In February Bleacher Report had him going 58th.

Teams started recruiting other players after he declared for the draft. If he had just entered the portal he probably doesn’t go to Mizzou.

It’s fact. It’s on case net. Accident happened mid December though. Missed court date in January. Can’t be only reason he hasn’t played because that started before the accident

Typically not a big deal if he just bumped a parked car. Bigger deal if both cars were being driven or someone got hurt. If it was essentially a 1 car accident that he left the seen of, it is more how you handle it that creates problems. Take care of restitution and get insurance and it will go away

St Louis Dispatch article
quote:

Mizzou's Dennis Gates on senior day moment with Isiaih Mosley: 'I'm by my players' side every day'

quote:

COLUMBIA, Mo. — One of the most enduring scenes from the Missouri basketball team’s postgame senior day ceremony on Saturday came when guard Isiaih Mosley was introduced to the crowd. Without a family member present to walk him onto Norm Stewart Court — Mosley was joined by close friend Pep Stanciel, a St. Louis native and former Columbia College player — three people jogged over to Mosley’s side to escort him onto the floor: Tigers coach Dennis Gates, athletics director Desireé Reed-Francois and team captain Ben Sternberg.

quote:

But when the public address announcer introduced Mosley’s name Saturday, Gates and Reed-Francois hooked their arms into Mosley’s and walked him to center court where they were greeted by university president Mun Choi and Board of Curators chairman Michael Williams. Reed-Francois hugged Mosley and said to him, “I’m so proud of you.”

You gotta respect Gates for not letting this be a team distraction this season.

People saying all of this foul, unconfirmed, shite about him should probably pay attention to what happened on SR day. His family life has been bad for awhile and his mother has been our her death bed for most of the year. It’s been tough on him.

From what I hear the plan is for him to come back next year.
