Playbook issues are why Nate Strong hasn't played.

Apparently Ish is a really nice guy and has been spending personal time away from the football facilities teaching Nate the playbook because he know's he deserves to play ahead of him.

I know I've given Ish a lot of heat. And I know many of you have.

He know's he's not a feature back. He's been forced back into that type of roll again this year with Ross hurt and not being all we might have hoped and Crockett still growing.

Just something to add to the mind next time we're not happy with him.

That's been why Ish has been playing all 3 seasons. He's smart and does all the little things. If Crockett and Strong pick things up they should be the ones that make the running game good.

I liked hearing that he spends personal time teaching Nate the playbook.

I can't say another bad thing about the kid.

He wants to win. And knows Strong gives Mizzou a better chance at winning. He's always done the small things to help the team. Us fans should really like him.

Ish has the makings of a great coach.

No. I am not slamming the kid. Smart and willing to teach is something you look for in a coach. He might not be the greatest running back since (fill in the blank) but he could be someone who has a very good career teaching the next great running back.

FIFY

That's truly awesome to hear. And that's what I like to hear about Tigers - putting team before self. I think we all knew Strong might not be the brightest player we've ever had, and I'm sure our playbook isn't easy to learn for someone in their first year. Good for Ish for helping him out.

And yes - he's got the makings of a great coach.

I don't believe this. Or at least the "deserves" part of it. No one makes it this far thinking others should play ahead of them. Glad he's helping a teammate, but I'd bench a guy that didn't think he should be getting the opportunity he is getting.

He's a capable back behind a decent OL. His biggest drawback is the lack of breakaway speed.

Nate Strong did show up for August practices at the last minute due to not knowing if he would be eligible. He has not even been on campus two months yet.

That may have put him too far behind the others to break into the lineup this year. At this point I don't expect to see him play until spring. I still have high hopes for him though.
