I mean that's a good point.
Pinkel was here forever.
Anderson left for Arky.
Haith was a terrible hire but he left for Tulsa.
Kim Anderson was given 3 years before he was fired.
I dont really see where we haven't supported a coach.

Have you seen the home crowds this year? 90% of the fanbase burying him 15 games into his tenure? Sure there are valid reasons, but that's the very definition of not supporting a coach. Odom really never had great support to begin with, but it's his own fault that he has done nothing to move that in his direction.
The "shite" we can't keep doing is what we are doing now. We can't jump on the coaching carousel every two years. We won't get anywhere doing that.
The next one won't even by lynchable, so get that out of your system now. That's what I'm saying. If you really care about winning then you support the next guy to the best of your ability even if it's not the guy you wanted hired or things don't turn around instantly. We'll go nowhere with shite fan support. It's impossible.

I mean a bad hire is a bad hire.
Odom was a bad hire, the sooner you rectify that the sooner the program can move in another direction.
I've said it before, there's a difference in not having the players and not having a well coached team. This team is poorly coached in every facet of the game.
Can you blame the fans? Did you actually watch the game Saturday? It was the worst I've ever seen a Mizzou team play, and it was against Purdue. How many showings like that do we need to see?

Barry is very much responsibile for contributing to shite fan support.
He wrecked our successful D system with his read react garbage and had our O looking like peewee football in the SEC.
Not a good look.

I'm not disagreeing.
My point is, the next guy is going to have to be committed to financially. No coach worth a damn is taking a short term deal with a low buyout after we just fired the previous guy within two years. The financial support will be required. My concern, and I've been a Mizzou fan for a long time and I know Mizzou fans...I'm just concerned that the fan support won't be there and if that's the case then the new coach is essentially sunk before he ever really gets a chance. I just hope that's not the case. I can't chastise anyone who has given up on Odom after that game yesterday. It just can't happen.

If they get a guy who can immediately clean up the simple mistakes and fundamentals and fighter spirit, you'll keep the fan base.
Odom's problem is the palpable nature of the players not giving a shite, phoning it in, and playing like they've never played football in their lives. We're not competitive right now.
There's a difference between losing competitively and the garbage we've seen so far.

I can handle 1-2 if it's a competitive 1-2. We're looking at a guaranteed 1-3 and a probable 1-5 start.
Can you imagine a Mizzou team being 1-5?
He won't make it past a Kentucky loss.

He's not getting fired midseason. But without drastic changes in results, there's no reason to think he survives either.

I'll tell you what else he is doing. It's small, but still not a good look. He quit doing the local media round of mid-week radio interviews around the state. Here locally they've had Jeff Brohm and Dave Steckle on, but no Odom. Lovie Smith is available for Illinois. And thus far Cuonzo Martin has been available, but no Odom.
Is it all that important? Probably not. But it helps build brand visibility and generate interest in attending a game.
Honestly, Odom comes off like a linebacker coach miscast as a head coach. Intense with no desire at all to carry out the tertiary repsponsibilies of being a head coach.
Nick Saban can blow off local media if he wants to, but a JAG like Barry should try to raise Mizzou's profile at every opportunity.

We can mock Butch and guys like him for their gimmicks and PR campaigns, but they're almost a necessity.
This is what impresses me about PJ Fleck. I don't know if Minnesota is really a sleeping giant but he sure sells it well.
