Sleeping Tiger
Five minutes after that fiasco, Taveras hit his first big league homerun, so it may have be a lucky kiss cam moment.
Let me tell you, when Taveras hit that homerun, Busch Stadium erupted in celebration! I've seen a few special moments at Busch, but that was one of the best...especially since there were a few Giants fans sitting directly behind me talking smack about how they were going to sweep the Cards.
Busch Stadium went insane and I was there to see it.

That's pretty funny. I wouldn't call that a failure.

It's totally widespread. The entire city pronounces their ORs as ARs.
This is actually confined to a relatively small area of South City and South County St. Louis.

Agreed, my entire family is from south STL. So it was common for me to hear:
- warsh (wash)
- zink (sink)
- farty (forty)
- ruint (ruined)
There are others but I can't think of them right now. I realized it was an accent when we moved the the St. Charles area and other kids looked at me funny. So, I stopped talking that way, I remember having to try to say wash correctly for awhile.
Now my parents live out here in OC and still talk like that, though not as pronounced, but still noticeable. They get some funny looks at times, especially my dad.
However, every once in awhile someone out here will hear him say a key word and reply, "Whered you go to HS?"
Special code.

Let's not forget flat out adding r's where they don't belong: "Wertherman says we may get some ternaders"
That might just be in my neck of the woods though.

Vacationing on HH Island, SC....spent a couple of hours today talking to a gentleman from Charleston who was graduated from The Citadel. The guy was oozing with charm and his accent was intoxicating!
Before anyone asks....hubby was there too.
