A wild day it was in the SEC just like expected and here are some notes on some of the major stories.

•Auburn was the talk of the day -- for quite a few reasons.

If you are looking the biggest winner of the day, it would be the Tigers. What a day it was for the Auburn Tigers. It already had a strong class entering signing day, but then added five-star Byron Cowart, four-stars Jeff Holland, Ryan Davis and Javaris Davis, and flipped three-star Carlton Davis from Ohio State as well as three-star Mike Horton from Florida. This was one day after flipping four-star Darius Slayton from Georgia and grabbing a commitment from four-star Prince Tega Wanogho Jr. It had to cut loose four-star linebacker Elijah Sullivan (signed with Kansas State) to make room for this group.

Wondering what exactly happened, I looked for more and found this. LINK

Nice to see business as usual in the SEC.

I honestly hope Mizzou never gets into this practice. I can see how it could come, but I hope not. Seems like a crappy way to treat a young man.

I don't see this ever happening under Pinkel. We rely too much on building relationships at high schools and having a clean reputation.

The saying Mizzou has to recruit, we don't get to select seems apropos here.

Plus Pinkel does his own evaluating to get kids that fit the program, he isn't a star gazer collecting kids. Even this year with Juco transfers for the OL and a 4 star OL recruit, his 2 star recruit had no worries.

The staff, including AD Ivey work as a unit to get kids ready to play. Funny thing is...their approach is pretty unique in good programs. The vast majority are star gazers.

The 2 star is probably set to be the long snapper for the next 4 years. He has a gift for it.
Interesting that GP is now giving out schollies to a kicker, punter, and long snapper. He may prove to be able to play on the OL, but definitely can snap.

Agreed. I think Tennesse's Butch Jones follows the stars. He added Quatre Sapp, a four star, late in the process. When we were looking to add a LB, it was said that our staff preferred Terez Hall, a 3 star, over Sapp. Supposedly, even after they got Sapp, Tennessee started showing interest in Hall.

From last years haul of talent, Tennessee has already lost five of their 4 star recruits.

Daniel Helm, 4* TE
Dewayne Hendrix, 4* DE
Michael Sawyers, 4* DT
Derrell Scott, 4* RB
Vic Wharton, 4* WR

* Stars are based on Rivals evaluations.

I wonder how often a coach sees another school's interest and goes after that kid as a defensive move. I know you don't want to have your back hard poached, and I think that had something to do with Georgia's late interest in Hall. But Tennessee seems to be playing a dangerous game. Collecting a bunch of kids only to process them a year later will catch up quickly. High school coaches will be sour about that. Unless Tennessee puts together a top notch team in the next year or two, the kids will catch on too and the negative will outweigh the positive.

Yeah, I don't get it. I would never allow my son to consider UT because of it. And I'm not a big anti-UT guy. I like them and their fans. But there is no way I'd let him go there.
