really? wasn't he the guy whose a Pinkel relative and only real work experience was with Christensen at Wyoming?

He is but I do think he gets some credit for what he did do while here.

Maybe not that kind of flexibility. Phillips is an offensive coach.

He coached DB's in the pros. Even if he is rusty at defense, big freaking deal, the guy can recruit like no other and he needs a job.

Looked up DeMontie Cross on 24/7 to look at his recruiting. Got a few 3 stars out of Hinds C.C. That's about it. But he was recruiting for KU at the time. He is trueson and looks like a solid coach. Maybe he could help Ford secure the St. Louis area, but doesn't help in the SEC footprint.

such as? I hadn't really noticed the position he coached being a big strength, no doubt your observations are different. How many safeties did we put in the NFL that he coached? I'm thinking 1 maybe.

Either way his credentials didn't scream "hire me" at an SEC caliber program, so yea I think the nepotism tag does fit, that said I wish him well and hope he earns his way to a big time program someday.

He has coached guys to the NFL at both New Hampshire and Wyoming. Webb will at least get in some camps.

I never said anything about nepotism other than confirm some sort of relationship to GP.

What has he done?

He helped land Brown, Ross, Wilson and Warren this year. He was mentioned by name by some high school coaches in Georgia and making a big impression there and doing all of the right things and working tirelessly. The play of our safeties was better this year than in the recent past.

I never claimed he was the second coming. All I said is he deserves SOME credit for what he did do while here. If you think he did nothing while here, you're entitled to your opinion.

I'm just going to throw a name out there from left field. Admittedly know absolutely nothing about the guy, but I was thinking of recruiting the south, made me think of UAB shutting down their program. What about a guy like Duwan Walker who was there DC and coached their defensive backs. Have no idea what kind of a recruiter nor how good of a coach. Just tossing it out there.

Off the top of my head I couldn't tell you. Just remember it reported when Mizzou hired him.

He was also key in Brantleys recruitment.

We got really lucky with Brantley. His brother knew Grinch and called him because Harold was about to go to Syracuse. Don't know the exact relationship between Grinch and Brantley's brother but glad it was there.

What exactly is Grinch's family relationship with Pinkel?

Grinch was important in securing the commitment of Eddie Printz. I don't know if you've heard of Printz, but some around here think he's so good that he should be the starting QB next year. So, Grinch must be pretty good at recruiting, huh?

In Grinch's first two seasons, he coached former Wyoming Cowboy free safety Chris Prosinski, who was drafted in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

...

In his first season at New Hampshire, Grinch tutored Second Team All-Conference honoree Corey Graham, a cornerback, who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. Graham was selected to play in the 2012 NFL Pro Bowl as a special teams ace.

Again, obviously know nothing about him but like the ties to both Missouri and Georgia. I would think worth looking at.

Oh great, it's another one of those Gary Pinkel fanboys. You know the ones... They have confidence in Pinkel for no reason whatsoever. I hear they like to hang out on TigerBoard (CONSPIRACY WARNING: ITS A SITE THAT GARY PINKEL OWNS).

I'll let my good friend, Jagd Tiger, take it from here:

grats on being the clueless dooshnozzle, you fit right in with the other fantard boys..

If the goal is to turn every thread into a shitstorm, you are winning.

Guys, it's going to be a long off season if we don't figure out how to do the internets without being a dick to each other. I have anchored more threads in the last week than I did in the previous year. Pretty soon I'm going to get tired of anchoring them and will just start making judgment calls on who is the one stirring it up.
