Haith did inherit a really talented group of upperclassmen. Took them to their best record. But KA inherited a much tougher situation than Haith did.
KenPom up to 168 for Mizzou.

I get your point but Haith's teams had a lot more experience than either KA team. While I'm disappointed in how this year has gone I still think KA should get another year. I know I'm in the extreme minority but I just don't think we understand how shitty of a hand KA was dealt.

We were discussing good wins. If good win is a standard, then it applies to all coaches. Not just the country ones who say "defense."

I would rather Kim get another year. When next year is relatively lackluster again, we can put the experiment to bed forever.

Yea I just don't think Haith shouldn't be the comparison. He's not that good of a coach either. MA is far better than both of his successors. And I wouldn't put MA in the category of great coaches.

That's partly on Kim. If he'd retained Teki and JW3, we'd have a far more experienced team this year.
And next year, Kim should have had a very experienced team and he won't. Because he's managed the roster more poorly than Haith could have dreamed of doing. At some point, the experience card is played out and you can't keep playing it. I suspect that if Kim isn't retained after next year, some people will be saying he never really got a fair shot.
It certainly wasn't an ideal situation, but he took the job.

That's my point. Haith is a very mediocre coach. And yet his results have towered over Anderson's. That should mean something to you. But it doesn't.

I was really puzzled when KA was hired. But I have since bought in to the idea that we won't know if he can coach at this level until we get to his 3rd or 4th year.
I see glimpses at times, but it will all really come down to how he recruits. I would say that he has 3 solid hits in the freshmen class. If he can do that again with next years class, then he will be successful. If not we move on from him.

That's completely rational.

Yup has nothing to do with KA also inheriting a program on probation without his knowledge. Do you have any clue if players get wind of that sort of thing? I would think it would be pretty unethical if they didn't know. Bernie was on the air this morning talking about Crean going something like 8-48 his first 3 years @ INDIANA. Nobody would argue that Indiana isn't a top 10 job and most sane peeps wouldn't argue that Crane can't coach. They did however still show up for games despite being awful. I honestly think a lot of the program interest going down has a lot more to do with joining the SEC than anything else. We chose money over long standing rivalries and history for a shi**y basketball conference. I still watch every game, but I know I'm in the minority among many of my friends who were all watching every game 5 years ago. The middle of the pack of the SEC is about as boring as it gets. Also think the support all around the conference is pretty bad. There are 2 okay teams this year in KY and LSU and LSU has the number one pick in the draft otherwise that team would be terrible.

I'll keep saying it until my mouth bleeds. The BB program mess is on Alden. He is the common thread with Quin, Suitcase, Haith and the NCAA violations. He hired KA and did not tell him about the investigation.
This is an Alden dumpster fire, period.
Does Alden even attend BB games now???

True but Teki had a bad back and JW3 apparently didn't like anyone on the team so he left.
I expected this year to be better than last and it wasn't. I expected the team to play like they did against TN & SC all year but they didn't. No I didn't expect 25 wins but I did expect a lot more out of them. Ultimately it's on the head coach. I like KA for 2 reasons: he does things the right way by holding the kids responsible for their own actions AND I do think he can coach. Hopefully we'll keep 99% of the team together next year and he can show us.

Agree but none of know exactly how he was sold the job and what facts were omitted......either way I still think KA takes the job so he could "unabortion it".

I remember back in 2012 I told someone I feared, long term, that basketball would suffer with the move to the SEC, but football would be on the upswing. So far that notion has been right on point.

This is a backend justification. The NCAA "investigation" hasn't even begun to affect us yet. Using it as a justification for Kim's current performance is shitty and expected from you.

It wasn't an abortion when he took over. It has become one since.
Everyone acts like this was a total rebuild. It wasn't. He's turned it into a total rebuild. It remains to be seen if he can escape the issues he's created.

So it doesn't have any effect on a team when you know your not playing for ANYTHING?????? Really man.

The last season with Haith, what was our record?
Did we play in postseason?
What was the average home attendance?
What was the returning roster?
Haith was trying to get to a contract renewal. And he mismanaged his roster in the interest of short-term gain. Kim has taken the position that wins don't mean shite and talent doesn't mean shite. It's a bold move. We'll see if it pays off.

You forgot to mention him running the program into the ground and leaving.
