I think so too, it just seems so unnatural coming out of Arnet's mouth.

Matter article.

Notes on Brown, Crawford, Sherrils, Harris and others. Simon still out and expected back soon. Bauer out indefinitely. Still got a bad feeling about this one. May never play. Steward is starting to worry me too because what they keep saying about him now are the exact same things they said about him last fall's camp.

Can't count on anything from Steward. Anything he gives you is a bonus.

Bauer having hip issues again is definitely not a good sign.

DESEAN BLAIR IN DOMINATING.

Making circus catches left and right. He reminds me of Washington, 6'4 long arms, skinny, and amazing hands.

Rumor has it that Augusta still has weight issues.

@Dave_Matter: Mizzou OC Josh Henson raved about RT Nate Crawford after today's practice. Sounds like the first-year starter is settling in with 1st team

@Dave_Matter: DC Barry Odom impressed with LB Donavin Newsom, said he's played as well as anyone through first six practices

@todpalmer: Missouri OC Henson said too early to talk about which freshmen WR might make depth, but Johnson, Floyd are slot guys, Smith, Hall outside.

@todpalmer: Ricker said there likely will be some movement after scrimmage. Said Malik Cueller, currently the backup LT, has skills to play all but C.

@DavidCMorrison: Kuligowski on Josh Augusta: "I have a challenge with my weight, Josh has a challenge with his weight. I think he'll do a better job at it."

@DavidCMorrison: Kuligowski on Terry Beckner: "He comes out here and he's one of the best pass-rushing D-tackles that we have." Said needs more effort though

Sights and sounds

Kind of weird that only a few starters are set in stone at each position, but I don't feel worried in any way.

Clears up Bauer's situation a bit. Not good it's the second surgery on that hip, but looks like he'll be cleared soon

@DavidCMorrison: Word on Andy Bauer's left hip: labrum repair surgery in June. Recovery is "well ahead of schedule" and could be fully cleared by next week.

ETA: It's his other hip

Completely uninformed about the human body...but isn't the labrum in the shoulder?

Is anyone else getting the vibe that our coaches are giddy about this team?

Both should and hip joints have a labrum.

It's a cartilage type tissue that prevents bone from rubbing on bone.

Don't think the staff is any too happy about his lack of attention to his work outs in the offseason.

Call me crazy but I'm really encouraged about the depth on the line. We have 4 or 5 guys returning who all had a decent number of starts under their belt. They've done it for years now, so I'll trust their decision to move McGovern to LT. Cuellar sounds like he's impressing and I bet he finds a spot at one of the guard spots. Doesn't sound like Crawford is going to let go of the RT spot and that's a good thing because I think the guys behind him are solid too, whether it's Cuellar, Rhodes, Adams or whoever.

No games yet, but I can't help but get excited about what I'm hearing about with some of these receivers. Yes, they're young. Yes, there's going to be some growing pains. But yes, they seem to be a really talented crew, though I'm convinced Moore will never live up to his billing. I'm just feeling Darius White all over again. Would love to hear/see how Smith is doing.

From mubobby on the Freshman

This is not a list of guys that will play, but simply a list of guys that the staff would feel comfortable playing if they felt they needed to. Could be others also. Just the ones I know of.

WR Johnathan Johnson- Guy is drawing rave reviews. Odom/Walters convinced the staff to offer and they are very happy they did. He's got waterbug quickness AND excellent top end speed. He's tough, catches the ball well and he's also picking up the playbook quickly.

WR Emanual Hall- He's not flashy, but he's very polished and has excellent hands. Already a good route runner and has a nice frame. Compares to Sasser.

RB Marquise Doherty- great size and excellent speed. A guy they think could be a lead back down the road.

DL Terry Beckner Jr- you guys know. Strong as a bull. Great burst off the ball, and very strong hands. Long arms that can keep blockers off him in the run game, but where he is really shining is getting upfield and after the QB. Second best pass rusher on the team already from what I hear.

LB Terez Hall- Coaches are incredibly high on this guy. Already knows all three LB spots and is VERY physical. Good athlete as well. I anticipate he will be a multi year starter.

LB Franklin Agbasimere- he's very raw. However, I've heard the coaches think he may have the highest ceiling of anyone from this class (yes, anyone). Elite quickness and burst. Smart. Very hard worker and plays with a mean streak. Might see some time strictly as a pass rusher in 3-4 sets.

P Corey Fatoney- he'll likely be the punter. Just in a stage of making him earn it and getting him acclimated in the way they want it done. Very talented though.

AJ Logan looking good so far from camp attendees. That is a huge (literally) need for this line to be successful.
