Accountability.
You can't be shite for this long and keep your job. It's that simple.

We could go with TT16's seppuku plan

Hold on. There's a chance that Kim will be back next year. He could run the table here on out, win the SEC tourney, and go a couple of games into the NCAAs.
He could also enter the next home game riding into the gym on a unicorn being led by Elvis and Jimmy Hoffa.
However, if I had to bet on one of those scenarios happening, I'll place my money on the latter.

We are going the the tourney? Nooooooo.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Fortunately, we are a couple players short of being able to pull that off.
Unless we get very unlucky.

So in our best historical case, it was year 2 before he got a class. And that was his best class.
In the best of our three hires before the current disaster. His year one was Rush.
Mike Anderson's year one included Tiller and Carroll, a Big 12 DPOY and an all-American.
Haith's first class included two players who would average 14 and 20 points per game, respectively, in their final years at Mizzou.
Rebuilding doesn't take time. Mediocre coaches have proven they can do it here multiple times.

If you're Kentucky or Duke or another top 5 program you're correct but for everyone else yes it takes time.

2-3 years is all it takes for good coaches.
Virginia Tech had 2 10 win seasons when Williams was hired. By year 2 they had won 20 games, now in year 3 they have a good chance at the NCAA tournament.

The rebuild time depends on keeping the current players. These are guys are not great but it's a killer if we lose the core. Then add guys to make the nit then add better guys

There are 4 core players that need to be kept.
Puryear, Barnett, Walton, & Phillips.
Need to keep size so that's Smith and Nikko.
Hughes has really good potential. Other than that group losing any of the rest shouldn't be that big of a deal, as long as the replacements are more talented.
Technically we could keep all of the roster, use the 3 scholarships this year on the right recruits and be an 18-20 win team as early as next year.

Unless we hired Calipari or Coach K, our mess was not going to get fixed in 2-3 yrs.

Matt Painter won 9 games as a rookie head coach, 22 the next year.
I already mentioned Buzz Williams turnaround at VT.
Howland is doing pretty good in year 2 at MSU
Dixon at TCU has had a great 1 year turnaround.
If you drop down to mid major ranks there are even more quick turnarounds.

The whole NCAA investigation & APR issue (with loss of schollys) was 600 lb elephant in the room; this was certainly a much bigger problem than people realize.
IF a top notch HC came in NOW with all these issues behind us, then I'm inclined to agree with you.

Where are your hearing about APR issues?
The NCAA sanctions end this year.
I doubt the tutor situation results in anything more than some vacated wins. Notre Dame and North Carolina had much bigger academic scandals and got basically no punishment.
The only thing that could hold Mizzou back under a new coach is recruiting. Which any coach that Mizzou should hire, won't have an issue with.

the APR issues seem to have gone away, probably because of someone many of you dislike.
It could turn around in a couple of years with the right coach if everything breaks right.
It could also take 4 or 5 with the right coach. We are not competing with mid majors.
If we keep our players we're going to have a significantly better season next year even if it was with KA.

OK, OK...NOW... There's still a chance that Kim will be back next year. He could run the table here on out, win the SEC tourney, go several games into the NCAAs and, during a drunken night with the AD, Kim could ask for a friendly autograph ("Right here on this line, Sterkie old pal.")

Today? None but they were a BIG for KA's first 2 years.

I know that but they were an issue the first 2 years

I'm not discussing this & agree it will probably go away.
I'm not suggesting we keep KA; what I'm saying is the first 2 years he had plenty of problems that were not on the court BB problems (coaching or otherwise).

Is that before or after the secs

No matter how many times it gets repeated, college basketball as a sport in general and Mizzou in particular do not require four- to five-year turnarounds.
Even after Dave Bliss trying to cover up one of his players murdering another, it only took Scott Drew four years to get Baylor back to what they were before the scandal. In year five, they won 21 games and made the NCAA tournament. Baylor hadn't won 20+ games before that since 1987, and they'd only won 20+ two other times in their entire history. They'd been to the NCAA tournament four times. Ever.
Scott Drew did that. A coach many think isn't even that good.
Four years to rebuild from about as close as you can get to the death penalty while still having a program. That includes a year where they were not allowed to play non-con games.
Please, please, please stop with this moronic stuff about Mizzou being a four- or five-year rebuild.
It's not.
This is a job that a good coach can rebuild right away.
We have a history of at least competence if not real success. We have resources in state. We have all kinds of money to give a coach whatever he needs. We're in a conference where we could very quickly rise out of the basement. The roster as it stands has a lot of hard-working role players, and there's enough flexibility for a new coach to add a couple impact players right away.
This is a good job.
This is a program that can turn around in a hurry.
Anyone who says otherwise is ignorant.
