The only way to be that bad is that they just didn't play as a team and execute. That's coaching. Lack of chemistry? Talent? Sure, maybe. But IMO the ONLY way to be THAT bad is that they were poorly coached. That's it.

It's fricking mind blowing how bad the playcalling and blocking has been this year.

Henson and Ricker MUST be FIRED, regardless of who is the next headcoach.

And it will still take me several years for all of the strikers to leave the team before I would consider financially supporting Mizzou again.

I've supported Pinkel for a long time. He did elevate the program, no doubt. I lived the dark Bab's Years and know where he started. I understood that we had a better team in 2012 than the record.

But I'm super pissed he let this program sink to this 2015 shite show. GP is responsible for Henson, Ricker, et al. This abortion is all on GP. And he knows it. He lost this team at mid-season and let them quit/protest. And that is the real reason he quit. GP finished weak and as a loser...all on him. He was never a conference champ because champions finish strong. I wish him good health and good frickin' bye.

You're crazy if you want Odom as HC, just my opinion. How was his coaching against MSU, tenny and arky???

I agree.

He's leaves at the end of last year, he's a hero.

Now, I'm not sure how history will tell his story.

I'm pretty sure he managed to give us one final nut shot on the way out the door though.

Come on Mule.

Who do you want as coach? He ever had what you would consider a subpar game?

BTW, in those 3 games you mentioned we held all of those teams under their season avg for yards and points.

And this defense, while solid, is not nearly as good as we'd like to think. We've been fortunate to play some pretty shitty offenses. Again, not saying they're bad. Just not as dominating as many like to think

The biggest difference between 13-14 and 15 has been lack of pure speed off the edge and generating turnovers.

Between not generating turnovers and the punt and kick return games being complete clusterfricks, Mizzou's consistently had some of the worst field position I can ever remember. Pinkel would have been better off taking a knee on kick-offs to get the ball at the 25.

IMO, upgrading the return game ranks right up there with fixing the OLine and offensive playcalling.

JQ - Who do you want as coach?

I want Mizzou to do something very un-Mizzou like.
That's hire an experienced HC that makes a big PR splash. No assistant to HC for me, especially an assistant from the D side. Spend some serious money. (Easy to say when it's not my $.) The SEC is an arms race and not for training wheels. GP told 'em so when we joined the conference. Wanta play...time to buck-up.

Maybe I'm too tough on Odom and this year's D. But remember, he did not recruit ONE starter. These are still Stec's boys.

Who do you have in mind?

To me the big question is, do you want to try to maintain the player development infrastructure Pinkel established or potentially blow it up and start over with someone from the outside?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

I want the same, but in reality we all know this is dreamland for Mizzou. We're going to hire some guy with no Power 5 experience and expect him to somehow keep pace with Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee. It's not going to happen I fear.

What I want? Talk to Patterson, talk to Miles, talk to Fedora, talk to every head coach with a history of winning at the P5 level.

What we end up with?

Campbell or Odom, or something even worse like Dino Babers

Rhoades made one good hire in Houston and everyone thinks he's a magician now.

Great point. Our return game was one of the worst in P5. Along with our Oline. And our RBs. And our WRs.

Did we have anything good on offense?

Well, they consistently found their way back to their own sideline after 3rd downs.

I think we have good things on offense if they are used correctly.

I can't wait to see how the next coaches depth chart differs from Pinkel/Henson.

TigerCruise touched on a few P-5 names of interest.

If it's not a P-5 HC, here's a name to consider...Willie Taggart, HC at USF.

What he's done at USF is remarkable, it was a steaming pile of dung. Holtz ran it into the ground and left it to rot. Not only has Taggart rebuilt, he has them 8-4 this year. This is a guy who took the lumps and shots. Hell, his USF team in year one lost to a FCS school by 40+. But he proved he could rebuild it.

He was also the person who started the Western Kentucky build.

All-American QB at WKU. Coached the O side. Was RB coach under Harbaugh at Stanford.

He has major connections to FL, GA, KY and TN recruiting areas.

If Rhoades wants a diamond in the rough, there he is.

SurgV - my knowledge of Taggart is super limited.

I do think he will coach a successful P-5 program some day. Is he ready now? Does he fit at Mizzou? Those questions are for AD Rhoades to answer and earn his paycheck. I'll trust Rhoades. He's interviewing and vetting.
