Brantley was never a lock to return but there is no way to spin the loss of Brady. He was two more solid years away from being a draft pick. I hope whatever he did was worth it.

Come on Brantley was in the hospital for a long time recovering his injuries. It was very likely he wasn't going to play again anyway.
Brady is a loss, but Mizzou is loaded at DL plus Brady's production dropped off his last 6 games....only 1 sack and less than half his tackles for loss. Not saying he wouldn't get better and he wasn't good.

Silver lining: We have a recent track record of reloading on the defensive line. Big blow, but better in an area of strength.

I don't think Brady is irreplaceable and who knows what Brantley could have done, but the point here is that we just took a hit to depth.
We are down to 5 scholarship DEs and only 3 who have done anything in a game.
