Bed bug scare at Southeast Missouri school prompts letter to parents

According to the letter, a bed bug specimen was found in a Doniphan R-I School District building. The letter states while the source is unknown, each school building was treated Wednesday night by a professional pest control company. Region 8 News spoke with Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Snyder Thursday morning. She said the issue was taken care of, and out of extra precaution school janitorial staff did extra cleaning Thursday before students arrived. Snyder said the letter was sent to let parents know the issue was handled. Snyder would not comment on which school the bed bug was found in.

I've read bed bugs have become a nasty problem in hotels because they're resistant to the old chemicals.
It would suck big time to have them in the schools.

Especially since its a small step from the schools to the homes. Thank you no. Dealt with bed bugs while I was in the ANG and once is more then enough for me.

This happened to an elementary school here in OC, except it was scabies from wood chips in a playground.
The poor kids were covered in bites and the school blamed the kids homes until vector control came out and took a look around and discovered the mites in the playground.
Yikes!

Bed bugs have been bad in this area. Joplin(Jasper/Newton county)
