If a player is going to get their feelings hurt about when and where an offer comes that's self-centered.

Missouri has it's process. They don't just throw offers out to kids with obvious talent like most of the other top 25 programs.

I want kids that want to work hard to get to Missouri, not that think they deserved an offer earlier so now they're mad and don't want to go there anymore. That's baby stuff.

In regards to Scales his comments suggest we are very much in his top 4 if not the leader.

Compared too other top 25 schools, do prospects feel that Mizzou is worth working hard for? Especially when teams like Ohio State, Michigan State, FSU, etc, are throwing out offers to anyone with 4 stars?

And I'm sure the kids want to go where they feel they're most wanted. An earlier offer can leave the impression that that school wants them more. Flip side is if Scales feels that way, he's not a must get like Hentges was, so no worries if he feels that way.

Right.

The kids I want are the ones that understand that a Missouri offer is more meaningful, no matter when it comes, than a lot of other schools, because we offer people and other schools are just offering skill sets and 40 times.

And for the record i'm not really talking about scales, that talk just inspired my post, i'm sure the rumor posted about him is hardly true.

I hear ya and don't necessarily disagree. There is also so much time between now and when they sign that most of these kids will forget who offered when. It's just exciting for them when they start getting their first offers. Out of a class of 25, there might be 1 or 2 who mention an early offer as being a part of the consideration.

It seems that with the talent level being a little down locally, Mizzou doesn't want to throw out a bunch of offers early if they don't think they will turn into instant commitments. Maybe it would look bad if 2 and 3 star local kids could not be locked down immediately. Just a thought.

I have a feeling that is pretty accurate. No reason to offer 2 and three stars now. Concentrate locally on Epensa for 2017 and look nationally since our brand is becoming more well known.

Isn't he(Bryant) listed as a 2* rb? I still like his game and think his rating will rise during next season.

2 by some, 3 by others. I suspect he'll be a 3 by everyone before it's done.

Anyone else notice that Vanderbilt and Missouri are the only schools without a commitment yet? Hell, Kentucky has 15 commitments already.

Gonna be a slow cycle. I think they'll get a small handful over the summer, but I think they're banking on another good year, leading to a flurry of commits like we had gotten this past season.

Mizzou has an interesting way to recruit.
Typically get a couple in state kids early. In a low in state talent year haven't offered many.
Get a few overlooked guys over the summer and close hard in the fall.
Coaches are going hard after texas kids this year.

That is exactly the point that makes me scratch my head. Kentucky hasn't exactly been winning a lot games lately, nor do they have a lot of instate talent, but clearly more high school kids are excited about playing for Kentucky than for Missouri.

Missouri has been winning some important games and getting kids drafted. But, we aren't getting much traction in recruiting.

For example, Arkansas' top 10 high school recruits are all projected to play for Arkansas. While Missouri gets maybe 4 of the top 10 that we offered.

Our coaching and player development must be absolutely amazing because we have been competitive on the field.

I doubt Mizzou offers 10 instate kids this year.

We'll be fine. Coaches just aren't great salesman, but their evaluation and development is as good as it gets.
