Stars mean something.
They don't mean everything.

There doesn't look to be a lot of top-level talent in-state this year. That's just a natural cycle of things, I think.

I've looked up in state offers for Mizzou. There are only three "AJ Taylor-Rockhurst", "Tre Bryant-CBC", and "Tre Williams-Rockbridge" What are your thoughts on these three? Do they stack up to Texas and Florida players?

Just wondering, does anyone know why Mizzou does not really recruit in Missouri "Kansas City" "STL METRO" area anymore?! Back in the day, Mizzou would get recruits from Mizzou! Now we let Ohio State and others get Missouri recruits like Ezekiel Elliot

I didn't follow the KC area as closely as the STL area, but Mizzou actually did pretty well in STL area this last year. TBJ, Nate Strong and Nate Howard were the top 3 guys in the STL area and we got them all. After that per 247 came a dual threat QB that is going to Yale that we never offered. Then Cam Hilton and Perkins. So that is 5 for 5 of the guys we pursued and 5 of 6 overall.

Out of KC, off the top of my head, I'd say we did pretty good as well. Lock, Williams and Doherty had to be top ranked. The only guys I can think of off the top of my head that we didn't get were the Davis twins.

The 2 that we missed on in state actually came from COMO/Jeff City...Hentges and Ofodile.

Yeah that is true. I've been reading this forum and I just wonder why people say 2016 class of missouri is down talent wise this year. Is that true? And do stars truly mean something?

There is some talent but no Drew Lock or TBJ type talent. I'd say there are guys who are on the level of Hilton or Howard this year. Guys that we'll pursue and would take but guys that if we don't get them, we can find equal type talent outside of the state.

Those guys will fit fine within Mizzou's system. The difference between them and say the top players in Texas and Florida is that those 3 will likely redshirt and really contribute in year 3 versus those 5* type talents that will play as true freshmen and contribute by year 2.

Oh okay, well that makes sense. Tre Williams is sort of similar to Nate Howard

Those stars really only measure where those kids are at at that point in time. And they don't even do that accurately all the time. The stars really don't measure how good of a football player each will be years down the road, as kids will all mature at different rates. And that's not even taking into consideration the great job GP has done in developing players.

AJ Taylor article

Sounds like a really good kid with a solid head on his shoulders. Participates in some sort of youth court working with kids in trouble.

This kid is only 15....and he lives in England....but honestly Mizzou should offer him

He ran the 100 m in 10.9 s, for being only 15, and being as built as he is, wow

Skylar Thompson was the #2 QB at the Rivals regional camp this weekend and will probably get an invite to the bigger Baltimore camp. Hope we offer soon because he's going to blow up soon. I'm ready to get a 2016 commit and soon.

Yep. Local kid and a fine rep of my alma mater and he's good. Made the twins from Blue Springs look pedestrian. He's a gamer.

If Mizzou keep.slow rolling him, he might go elelsewhere. We can't afford to lose this guy.

So I' in a nice seafood restaurant in Omaha and of course wearing my Mizzou gear. The Chef/Owner comes around to make sure everyone is liking their food and he looks at me and says "My nephew Skylar is the QB at Ft. Osage, he will be at Missouri next year." He goes on to tell me how he ended up in Omaha yada, yada, yada.

I asked him again if he was sure he was going to Mizzou, and according to him, there was no doubt.
