The whole stink with Diaz was mainly to do with his wife, not because he left for more money...

So, everyone else seeing/hearing Diaz? I'm more than happy if true. This team can be amazing next year with a good defense, I think the sure hire is the best bet. Plus his defense had the most turnovers in the NCAA this year.

Are you sure Diaz is a sure thing? He did lead texas to their worst defense in program history a couple years ago.

He also coached us to be one of the best in the league that year and has La Tech nasty right now. Hard to judge him on Texas, he was just one piece thrown into the dumpster inferno.

He's easily an improvement over Collins is what I'm saying.

I wanted Shannon. Orgeron for the laughs. Diaz is solid. The 2010 defense was fun to watch.

I guess living in Ruston helps you realize it can be worse than Starkville.

Those were some of the least talented Texas teams in the past 30 years. One and maybe two of the years they didn't have a single player drafted.

His defenses have been solid everywhere except Texas.

I'm not saying he's a bad coach because I don't believe that. In 2013 the Texas defense got better after he left though. I just don't think he would be considered a sure thing.

Well a sure thing does not exist really. I like that Diaz is a more aggressive coach than what we have had previously. We are going to give up points next year. But we should be able to score a fair amount as well. An aggressive approach is probably better next season.

We have this bend but don't break defensive philosophy but we sure did break a lot this year. We gave up a ton of big plays and long 3rd down plays.

One thing Diaz does bring is more blitzing. I would rather give up a big play and nail the QB then have them upright like they were a good part of this year.

I hope whoever comes in gets sme weight of Chris Jones also. He doesn't have the same explosion he once had.

CJ has too big a frame to lose weight. He's going to be around 300-310 and just needs to be at DT.

Not sure that's what he meant. I thought (I'm probably wrong) that Mullen was mad at the way Diaz left -- some comment about hearing the news on the radio.

Anybody else recall any of that ?

I'd be happy getting Diaz again. You can't fault him for what happened at texas. The only thing that would suck would be the neg recruiting against him.

True, but they can use that against whoever we hire. This will be Mullen's 5th DC hire. None stay long.

Didn't Diaz start that philosophy? I'm too lazy to look it up, but I feel like Diaz defenses gave up a lot of yards but few big plays. That'd be a nice change from the breaking that we did a lot of this year.

I think that started with Wilsok, was really just our excuse for him being bad
