well coming from a MS public school that had grade concerns, it may seem like it for some.

I have no problems with the way Mullen uses his redshirt system. Some of those young guys have seen the field plenty this year.

But looking at the future Oline situation, where are we at? we obviously struggled at running and I'm not sure another year/experience from this group is going to help.

LT - Rankin
LG - Malone
C - Clayborn
RG - Desper
RT - Jenkins

That would be if Malone applied for a 6th year. If he does he will get it, but I'm not sure if anyone knows if he will actually do that or not.

I think the best choice outside of Malone there would be Flowers if he makes it back.

If Rankin has an above average year and Malone or Flowers returns then I think we will be ok. If one or both of those don't happen I think we will struggle again.

I can predict what the OL will be too. I'm trying to predict if there will be progress and any sign of near hope.

Maybe OSHA will end up forcing Mullen's hand into firing Hev. He is creating an unsafe work environment for our QB's.

What the hell happened to Jake Thomas? He was supposed to be the promised one. Hell at least give him a crack at it. I would rather see us try new guys and then fail than see us throw the same 5 against a wall for the entire year and watch them fail.

Well, that's why I said what I said after the prediction.

Sorry for not answering your post the way you wanted me to, I guess.

The same OL that had huge success last year was basically the exact same line that got Dak and Tyler Russell destroyed a year before that. I hope that this line turns out the same way with a year under their belts.

He's playing G now I think. If Malone doesn't return, or we don't get Flowers back maybe he gets a shot at that G position. Playing Calhoun the other night doesn't lead me to believe he's going to beat out anyone though.

I was like, gah damn, what did I do to this guy?

I think the glimmer is looking at last years OL and how they struggled prior to becoming pretty good last year. Hopefully we see the same kind of result from this group.

No longer on the team. I forgot, but he had a lot of injury issues, which sucks, but if I remember right he hung it up a little over half way through this season.

Last years line looked ok at the beginning of the season when we sprang Dak out of the box to deal with. That combined with a bowling ball at RB covered up some weaknesses. I would never claim they were "pretty good" though.

The lack of a great back amplified the issue this year.

OL recruiting/evaluation has been Mullen's biggest weakness thus far, hopefully it will get dealt with soon.

I was talking about the year before Dak started full time and what they progressed to last year, the first year that Dak started.

There was definite improvement.

Yes there was some improvement, not sure that they would have looked much better if they were blocking for T. Russell again.

The change in scheme hid alot, simular to when Relf started. A big mobile QB and a respectable running game can make a OL look better than they are, while a statue that needs 5 seconds to throw the ball makes them look worse than they really are.

Either way I am sure we both agree that the team needs a great deal of improvement in this area to realistically be competitive in the west year in and out.
