What are y'all hearing with Gabriel Campbell from Yazoo?

I know y'all have to be sitting pretty since he's teammates with Timothy Washington.

Campbell has Alabama and Oklahoma offers too, FWIW.

Have not heard anything about him recently. I feel pretty good about Campbell though.

Just watched his film.

Great size at 6'6, 250. Looks as if he could add even more size and would be a redshirt candidate anywhere he winds up.

Fletcher Cox clone IMO... Just started taking football seriously last year after predominantly playing basketball. Extremely hard worker too.

He's one of the guys who IMO is going to have a quiet recruitment, take visits, not really name leaders, and commit/sign somewhere late in the process. Just doesn't seem to be caught up in the recruiting game at all...

I'd be surprised if we don't get him. We historically do really well in Yazoo...

Quay Evans is reportedly back in Starkville, trying to regain a spot on the team.

Paul says there's nothing concrete about it yet, and that he will have to walk on because he will not be getting a scholly.

Opinions?

Good for him. I hope he has his life on track. He definitely has the potential to be an NFL pick.

Yeah, I agree.

But if he doesn't have his head on straight I bet he doesn't last long. They are not going to make this easy on him I bet.

Yeah I am not going to pretend to know the whole story. Maybe he was genuinely sorry about it...he only got arrested for what...no license while driving? Not like he's a thug. I have no problem giving the guy multiple chances as long as he's not doing anything crazy like hurting someone or robbing people.

If he doesn't have his head on straight after being kicked off the team, he will never have his head on straight.

I hope this was the wake-up call that he obviously needed.

I really don't know the whole story either. That arrest wasn't the first time he had gotten in trouble though. There was at least once, maybe twice where he basically just walked out of practice.

I have heard a few things from some people that know him though and their first hand account is just that he's lazy and has an attitude problem, which rubbed a lot of the guys on the team the wrong way. They said the worst thing about him was that he wouldn't give a shite in practice at all, but would expect to play a lot in games and dominate.

You can easily tell that he has all the talent in the world but just needs to find a work ethic.

What I was getting at about it not being easy for him to return is I'm sure they're going to ride the dog shite out of him. He better be ready because it's gonna be a long hard haul back to the good graces of the coaching staff.

It was alot more to that story than what charges were actually brought against him for... Probably best to just leave it at that...
