fricking students are embarrassing.

I agree but it's what happens when you're this bad. Bringing Ray back for a year three, and potentially even year two, was a mistake. This experiment has failed and we need a basketball coach.

For the record, I think students should show up anyway. But t's really damn hard to get excited, or even watch, what we are putting on the court right now. I read a book while the game was on in the background for a solid portion of last night.

Unless they are free to get drunk on a Tuesday, I'm not sure what would draw them there other than shear loyalty. Hell, I have to drink to watch it from my couch.

I agree with the amount of time we have kept him so far. Barring winning out the regular season, I don't really see any way I would want to keep him after this season.

I don't think it's Ray's "teaching" that's the problem. The guys just make stupid fricking decisions.

I understand that at the end of the day it's the coach's responsibility but god damn if I'm not pulling for Ray to prove a lot of people wrong.

Coaches "teaching", or lack thereof, is what causes a lot of the little things. Teams who practice well don't turn the ball over as much as we do, they are disciplined enough to not dribble into a press. It's the little things that show up from lack of coaching.

I'm sorry but it is not believable that Ray's lack of teaching makes them do the dumbass things they do in the game. I mean, you agree that there is SOMEthing that's not his fault, right?

I'm pretty sure I haven't seen us dribble into a press, at least not more than two or three times all season.

I would agree that there may be something to him not coaching a lot of offensive things. Just going by what Chicken said last year and hearing him say last night that "the offense will take care of itself, just play defense", there may be something to that part.

Better players could for sure mask some of the shortcomings. However, I think a good coach could win some games with this roster. It's not an all star cast by any stretch but there is enough to compete with.

Yeah, it ends up going back to the coach no matter what. He's either not bringing in enough talent or not coaching up the talent he's bringing in. Either way it goes back to him.

Well... I didn't get to watch most of it because I was golfing. ha

I've watched almost every other game this year though.

The talent is there.

I think our problem is having too many "athletes" and not a good spot up shooter and smart players to offset the athletic guys.

You need those one or two white dudes on the team for just that.

We definitely need a 6'5" white guy who can drop buckets.

I just am not going to get past scoring 9 points in a half. I'm sorry, no amount of future improvement wipes that slate clean.

The worst part is that we are wasting a few years of golden opportunity. This year the SEC is BAD. I don't care what anyone says about "top to bottom strength" in the league. The Arkansas, Ole Miss, LSU, and UGA teams that are about to make the Tourney wouldn't stand a chance 5-10 years ago. We are one of the worst teams in the country and still could potentially go .500 in conference. We should be winning right now, we should be taking advantage of these shite show years. Instead extremely mediocre coaches and programs like Andy Kennedy are reaping the benefits of being not as bad as the rest.

The window was there and it is about to close, Donovan won't field a UF team this weak again, Pearl will make Auburn a solid team, LSU is going to keep improving, the road isn't getting any easier.

The SEC is better this year than it has been.

I thought the league would just get 3 bids for a hwile. But now I am going with 4 bids.

You must have been tuning the SEC out the last few years. It's vastly improved and it shows in the rankings. The SEC leads the country in strength of schedule and has nine top 50 RPI teams. Kentucky is as good as they've ever been and they've been taken to the wire by Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Florida, Texas A&M and LSU. How is the SEC as weak as it's been when that happens almost weekly for Kentucky? It's pretty clear that the SEC is better than it's been the last three or four years. No question.

Ok...I don't think the SEC gets more than 4 teams in.

Kentucky, Arkansas, Ole Miss and one of LSU/Georgia.

I think A&M gets knocked out of contention soon.

That was meant for skirp, not you. I replied to the wrong person.

I'd agree that it's 4-5 teams instead of 6 but the SEC is no where near as bad as it has been in years past.

I just don't agree. Look at the teams that our "good" teams have lost to. OM has dropped games to charleston southern and TCU. LSU lost to us and Missou. I think we get 4-5 teams in but I think most of those get knocked out in the first round. They have the benefit of playing some terrible teams every week. Us, Missou, Bama, Auburn, UT, Vandy, and SC are all really bad teams right now. We are legitimately one of the worst teams in the country and have won some league games.

Ole Miss loses OOC

quote:

Charleston Southern - .5 games out of 1st place. Auto Bid Conference. Likely Tournament Team

Western Kentucky - Tied for 1st place. Auto Bid Conference. Likely Tournament Team

Dayton - .5 games out of 1st place. Auto Bid Conference. Likely Tournament Team

TCU - Started 13-0, now 1-9 in Conference. Bad

We are legitimately one of the worst teams in the country

No we aren't. We're bad, but we're not one of the worst in the country.

How do you explain LSU beating West Virginia, USC beating Iowa State, Ole Miss over Creighton and Oregon, and the several other Non-Conference games that we won?
