great at getting on base but not a real threat to get the ball to the outfield grass and score some runs.

Hopefully Daniel Brown can get it going and be a dominant lefty out of the pen. I think he's capable of filling a Girado/Lindgren role, maybe even close for us, but after last night he needs more time. Surely, he will grow from it. 20 strikeouts to 3 walks in 13 innings so far.

I'm glad Cohen listened to me and put Robson in the nine hole.

We are getting on base (.428 - good for #1 in the SEC) but we are not hitting for any power (.391 - #9 in the SEC).

Plus Cohen really needs to stop this sac bunting shite. Like for example that sac bunt in the first inning last night. Heck rips a double down the line, then you just take the bat out of your #2 hitters hand because you are down 1-0? That's ridiculous. No excuse for that.

We bunt way too much. You can't expect them to start consistently getting hits with runners on base when you're bunting every inning. And if you are going to do that, don't put a batter with pop on his bat in the two hole. Our lineup last night was Heck followed by 4 of our 5 guys with heavy sticks. If you're going to bunt in that situation, put Robson in the two hole.

But really, just let Brown swing and to hell with bunting the lead runner over in the bottom of the first. If Brown gets a double you have runners on corners and no outs. Bunting at best gets you a guy at second with one out, and the worst happened in that he popped it up and the catcher caught it. Complete waste of an out with one of your better hitters.

I'm habitually pissed off because we've tried every damn lineup except one that makes sense.

SS Heck
C Collins
2B Gridley
LF Hump
CF Robson
1B Rea
3B Spruill
RF Vickerson/Brown
DH Rooker

There it is, I just solved all our problems.

I'm halfway joking, but as bad as our clutch hitting is right now, I would literally stagger the good OBP guys and the guys with stronger bats. We have to put them in more situations to drive home runs.

Yeah I just don't get it. It's been researched to death. And sac bunts are just stupid. You are far better off just never sac bunting at all.

I would really like to know why Cohen thinks that it is such a good idea. It baffles me...as he seems to be a guy that is fine with "unconventional" things in other instances. Like not saving your closer for the 9th, fine with odd pitching combinations. Plus he really seems to preach getting on base and having a patient approach at the plate. So why is it that he holds onto sac bunting?

No...not at all..he has been very successful. And I think the offense will eventually turn around.

The sac bunting is still dumb. He can still improve as a coach.

He has been very successful. On the other hand, we should not be this bad offensively with the talent we have. Having 3 top recruiting classes in a row should yield better performance than we are seeing as of this very moment.

Fitts needs to stick to power point presentations. I'm not sure how in the hell it's possible to have 4 really good starters and not a single arm worth shitting on in the pen.
