With the exits of yaites, Hughes, and Brathwaite. Wouldn’t be surprised if a few more guys entered.

These aren't any problems that are bad. Sure it sucks but we need room to bring guys in.

2 DTs to be added for sure. Maybe a LB for depth?

There will likely be more to transfer out. I think they are courting the ND punter really hard because we dont feel good about our punter at all right now.

Shea still has him listed on his on3 chart of players. Could just be lag. Was it announced anywhere?

From Shea:

quote:

Offseason Scholarship Tracker: 83 (85 limit)
Position Breakdowns: Offense (36), Defense (42), Special Teams (5)
Returning players from the 2023 roster: 47
Returning starters (multiple games in 2023): 18
Transfers Added: 7
Early Enrollees: 14
Summer Enrollees: 15

Yeah, Hughes was a Polian guy. He's the kid that Moscona would rant about why would we go to Vegas to get a 3* CB when we can throw a rock and hit one in Louisiana.

do we, really?

If you find a transfer you like and he wants to come here, why can't an NIL collective just pick up his tuition and room and board? He still gets a free ride, and nobody goes over the scholarship limit. It's the same money, just a different term for it.

You know we're eventually going to see a "walk on" start games. It's happened in the past with baseball, when they had to split scholarships up. TOPS would cover some things, other guys had family money and chose to pay their own way to allow for a better team. Football will see that same dynamic play out- the top players will end up with big NIL deals and 'walk on', leaving scholarships to guys building depth.

Whether a player is on scholarship or not, he counts toward the 85 limit the second he takes the field if he was “recruited”. This only works if the player doesn’t make an official visit and the coaches have no in-person contact with the player.

If that were possible, every team would have multiple "walk ons" whose tuition, etc was paid for by NIL. If you're recruiting a guy, he's going to count against the 85.

It's different in baseball, because there are limited scholarships, so schools are allowed (pretty much forced) to divide the scholarships between players. In football, that's not allowed. All scholarships have to be full scholarships, and the players you have recruited are counted against the 85. The NCAA may be dumb, but even they won't fall for hiding players over the limit.

Guys I do not see this as a big problem. We are going to attack some areas of need in the portal. This is just a team trimming some weight and getting ready for a championship streak of three in a row.

I wonder if Todd just isn’t quick enough? He can punt…but at 6’5” and 250lbs maybe he can’t turn around snap fast enough and presses.

People complaining about the transfers so far clearly don’t want to compete for a championship
