Mac said the hire wont happen until after the bowl games out of respect for the other teams. He also hinted that recruiting had to be a strong suit as well. Ready to hit it hard in Jan.
Tells me he has a big name in mind that he thinks he can pull from another team.

I think it's Shannon, but I think there could be a huge offensive shakeup.

I like the idea of making Shannon the DC and hiring a Tosh Lupoi to come in and be linebackers coach/Co DC or promoting Shannon, hiring an elite recruiter like Locksley to be the running backs coach, then you have the freedom to hire another elite recruiter or move Skipper to linebackers.
One thing is clear, we need position coaches who can recruit their asses off and we need Stricklin to approve expanding the support staff for recruiting.

Odds are it happens the first week of January. I see 2 changes at minimum being made. Both on offense and 1 addition on defense.
I'm starting to think Nuss is done and Locksley replaces him. Nord to a different capacity.

My .03 worth is no and I say that just because he has been in the NFL so long that he may not suited for recruiting. It isnt just a case of telling recruits about his background. He has to have the mindset of traveling a lot to recruits homes and doing the sofa sell job in the living room and kissing momma.
Thats why Kelly doesnt want to go back to college and the reason why Gruden isnt interested in any college job. The slight I am hearing on another board is Ron Zook believe it or not as an asst coach and Im all in...he would turn our recruiting around in a hurry. He is a recruiting machine.
Zook got the Gatorade National Player of the Year in Chris Leak from North Carolina and recruited the defense that Meyer won the 2006 BCS title with. He is a hard worker and can win over recruits and their mommas. He knows defense and was DC also with the New Orleans Saints. Not suggesting DC, but he was a demon on special teams....look up videos of him running downfield on the sidelines with kick/punt returns...hell...he was faster than our return guys
Remember also that he had quick success at Illinois and took them to the Rose Bowl...he would be a helluva addition to the staff. When he was HC at UF his DC was Charlie Strong and he knows the lay of the land.
