Nothing however is as bad as what Boom did to Driskel in the 2014 Missouri game, that almost seemed spiteful.

Or A&M. 8 fricking sacks in one game.

I don't think there are many coaches who have ruined quarterbacks how Muschamp did.

The 2016 Arkansas game last6 year was worse than the UT, girls school and Bama losses....JDR should have been pulled early on...but quite honestly our OL played like crap and the pigs came out on fire. After beating us...they reverted back to being putrid.

JDR was injured and should have taken himself out in the Arkie game. If anyone recalls, Mac said in post game interviews that he didnt know JDR couldnt even pick up his bags to get on the plane.

I'm leaning Trask early on in this battle. His release and accuracy.

I kinda want to say the same. He's also got the stature and style, but I wonder if Franks gets some playing time to keep him from transferring or the like.

Trask simply didn't get to play that much at his high school because he wasn't a fit in that system.

Trask reminds me of a taller version of Grossman.

Del Rio plays in a much better offensive system then Driskel . I would take Driskel over the garbage we had the last 2 years minus Grier who reminded me of Driskel winning with his legs. Del rio's biggest problem is that he thinks he actually has talent and tries to make passes a game manager should never attempt . I don't see any way that Del Rio ever sees the field for UF anymore in a meaningful game.

It seems like every year Mac plays it off like there is a QB race but everyone knew who was going to be the starters.

Forget JDR being injured- why have the most vertical approach we showed all season against the worst run defense we saw all season?

If Driskel had stayed his senior season with McElwain, we'd've balled out. The kid had a cannon and he just played for a coach with no knack for offensive development. At least he had good experience playing in those places, and a lot of his failures and shortcomings were a team effort at the line (8 sacks in one game) and at WR (the drops were atrocious).

I completely agree with the Del Rio viewpoint. Dude tries to do way too much and ends up getting bitten.

I like how calm he is, his reflexes and how he actually reads the field. You can also tell he's got high football IQ by some of the throws he elects.

The only drawback is that sometimes he underthrows, but it's not like we haven't had that for a while -- he at least seems to have the capacity, and maybe he just underestimates.

Has Toney been given any reps at QB? I read somewhere that they Mac was gonna see what he could do. Just didn't know if that was just certain packages

I hear Allen and Toney are both in the mix as well, but I have no idea how deep they are.

It's exciting to actually have true, non-walkon quarterbacks all over the field.

this...

quote:

“I watched the whole practice and saw how Coach Nuss trains the quarterbacks,” Milton said. “I think he’s a great coach. He knows how to get things done and lead quarterbacks in the right way.

does not equal this...

quote:

“I’m coming back up again,” Milton said. “I like what Florida has going on with Coach Mac and that coaching staff. The offense has a lot of good players and I met some of them at practice. They just need a quarterback.”

interesting to see how this plays out...

Grier did fine (he never actually played for Muschamp), and we're officially on his first quarterbacks. He did fine at CSU. Did fine at Bama.

He does well with quarterbacks, and right now his recruiting is picking up.

Do we put you on suicide watch like we did with TJ?

For the millionth time I will climb on this soapbox and let everyone know that the run game is the most important thing we have to improve on...we have been miserable the past few years and finish at or near the bottom of the SEC in rushing offense. That cant happen no matter who the QB is.

I suspect we will be much better this year due to the experience we finally have on the OL AND the talent at RB to get the tough yards and also break tackles for long gainers....which demoralizes a defense.

Running the ball well does many things: you eat up clock and rest your defense, you move the sticks and make third downs manageable for your QB, you can throw when you want to...not because you have to...you keep the LBs/safety wary of the run game and any fake handoff works to freeze them for a split second and thats all some of our WRs will need to be able to come open.

The past few years we have gotten away with being a poor run team because we had one of the best defenses/kicking games in the country to cover up our anemic offense.

And dont kick Del Rio just yet...he may be the QB we need to bridge the experience gap with QBs who have never taken a college game snap before.

I'd prefer to keep Del Rio as a backup, to be quite honest. Sure he can manage a game, but here's where you and I have to part regarding the run game:

To have a successful run game, you have to have a passing threat.

Exhibit A: LSU.

They have had a great stable of backs, some of the best around and get absolutely manhandled by teams with top ten defenses.

We have got to get a decent quarterback who can keep the defense honest and who can ball out when we need it. Del Rio simply doesn't have the arm strength to keep the safeties far enough back.

If we get a decent run game set up by a decent pass game and suffer no dropoff on defense (we've had amazing defenses for the entirity of the 2000s for the most part) then we're minted.

LSU had the other Purdue transfer and it was a team not cohesive from the getgo...firing Miles who recruited all of them had an effect.

I wouldnt use LSU as an example...UGA had loads of talent but a true frosh QB in a "throwaway" season for them. They will be better perhaps...actually, they have to be better if you look at their weak azz schedule.

Del Rio? I dont care if he starts...as long as r/s frosh are ready...which I think isnt as easy as a lot of fans think. Danny and Rex both struggled as r/s frosh...but everyone has blinders and think a r/s year is going to make our QBs world beaters. Mac will make the decision based on what he sees in practice.

Oh...had to edit because I forgot to mention another QB, Toney and he may be the spark we need to get more rushing yds and surprise with a pass or two or three. He could be lethal...time will tell.
