I remember with clarity the 2001 AU game on the plains (the library fire) with Rex as QB and winds howling 40-50 mph. An ESPN night game. We were ranked # 1 and AU was mediocre at best. Rexie kept heaving passes into the air and the wind would make them wounded ducks and AU defenders would pick them off. We didnt have Ernest Graham available and couldnt run...AU played hard and upset us. Later we would lose to UT in the postponed matchup at end of year. Jon Hoke was our DC and he got blamed for the L even though our defense held time after time usually in poor field position. We finished 9th in the country in total defense but fans had to have whipping boy and Spurrier had enough of spoiled fans and it was exit stage right.

Weren't we without two offensive linemen? Ivey and one other?

Let's be honest, looking back before all the wins, this team is better than what we expected it to be but does still have the limitations that we knew it had going in.

We have a big time defense and a good coaching staff. We will go as far as they can take us if the offense will not turn the ball over. While the offense was making some strides with Grier, they still were not setting the world on fire.

Treon will never be a consistent QB, he is an "athlete" that will make big plays occasionally and miss wide open receivers 10 yds down the field. As long as he doesn't throw interceptions or fumble the ball away, we can live with that for now. His play this year is identical to last year.
The O line is better than I expected, but not as good as needed in the SEC. Great coaching job just make it functional.

Let's enjoy winning the East, the fact Muschamp is gone, the rest of the East sucks and hope some 5 star o linemen and qb's come our way, SOON!

Go Gators 2015 SEC East Champions, Atlanta, here we come.

yup. i've been looking for del rio to start next year if grier is suspended for half the season.

i think he'll be a rsjr. be nice to have him for two years, whether he starts the whole time or not. treon will also be a jr, and if he doesn't transfer after this year i don't think he ever will. the qb position isn't as dire as some think it may be.

Treon will definitely transfer or switch positions if we take in Franks.

Really, he will always backup Grier no matter what from this point on. Grier is basically having another season to red shirt with some quality wins and starts under his belt. Treon continues to look absolutely abysmal. Can't believe how bad he was against Vanderbilt, it was shocking.

Someone posted earlier in this thread or another that Goldkamp posted an article saying Treon made marked improvement, after watching the game again lol

It's not just that he looked bad, but it seems like he's getting worse and worse. We were at home, no pressure, and he can't even hit little dunk passes. We saw what Mac did with Grier, I can't even fathom what the hell is wrong with Treon.

Literally, kid has nothing to offer at the position. His scrambles are worse, his passing is worse and even his awareness seems to be slipping.

Want him to succeed, but he won't at quarterback.

no doubt. he'll never be an answer for what we need, but he is a convenient stop gap. it's better than the alternative at this point.

i'm not sure what else he would play. maybe safety. he could play wr and/or rb. i hope he stays. i see him as a swiss army knife next year. jack of all trades, handy.

He's a decent athlete, but I'm not sure he's got the skills to do what Burton did. It'll be interesting to see where he goes, if he changes positions or if he transfers.

certainly couldn't blame him for transferring, but i hope he comes back. despite his limitations, he's earned his place. glad we have him right now.

Definitely lucky to have even a C+ quarterback at this point. Hopefully Franks comes to give us some more depth, I could see us using a potential two-quarterback system between Franks and Grier.

i would hope franks redshirts. he looks raw as hell. we have del rio. that kid is good. he left bama cause there's 50 5* qbs on the roster and he left osu because he doesn't fit the new coaches skill set. he'll be better than franks next year.

I've heard Del Rio is the real deal, I would love to see him on the field.

no doubt. he'll have a full year in the system before franks gets on campus, plus maturity. the other bama qbs said he was a film junkie and a nag.

never stopped pestering everyone with questions. they said he's a sponge, probably doesn't hurt that he's learned a bit from his dad. i'm sure he's been coached up pretty well.

No...Sharpe and Halter didnt start...but did play late in the 2nd qt and finished game. Ivey played the whole game practically. We used to insert Dillard at guard or center but lately its been Thurman get snaps. The reason two OL didnt start is probably because of practice results or some other issue...coaches are always tight lipped.

A package for Grady would be nice. He could do a better job of the read option because he is not scared of getting hit. I am shocked that the coaches haven't found ways to get the athletes the ball since Grier has been out.
