UF landed 10 top 300 in ESPN...UT signed four and yetthey were 1 spot ahead of us when we had 20 commits, now with Byrd a hard commit..we have 24 recruits!

Great close and a solid top 10 class. I admit that I was a little worried last week but Mac proved that he can recruit and close the deal. I still believe that he is the right coach at UF to lead us back to the top but the entire conference is being dominated in all phases by Bama right now. Go Gators!

Alabama is a monster right now. They creamed Florida and everyone else in head to head recruiting this year. It is what it is. Someone needs to slay the beast.

between this close and the bowl game I have more confidence heading in to 2017. Let's see if Mac can find a qb

I keep repeating this...its not just a QB...its the Oline and they are going to be 4 upperclassmen and 1 soph most likely starting this year for us...thats going to make a big difference...we cannot finish at the bottom of the rushing stats in the SEC and expect much success...the defense is the only reason we won as many games.

No QB can do well if we cant run the ball to keep defenses honest. You also need RBs...which we have and they have to pass protect and WRs who make plays...which we now have. TE is the one position on offense I am not good with, they cant block for crap and dont exhibit great catching skills either....we need Byrd along with Gamble to be the answers down the road...we have 4 upperclassmen TEs right now.

I think UF has all the experience and pieces now outside of the QB position.

No excuses. Almost all upperclassmen on the line, running back stable is solid as frick, WR talent all around even if they're a young bunch. Gotta get shite done. Hope Franks/Trask/Del Rio are ready.

There are no excuses that is 100% right. Do or die, the only thing that will keep the train going is another east title, at the very least.

I agree no excuses for the offense this year . It's year 3 we need to see some real improvement .

Hold the damn phone....geez...a r/s frosh QB who has not taken a college snap with live bullets flying? You HAVE to expect some disjointed games...we may win but some wont be pretty. Rex Grossman had a TOUGH time as a r/s frosh with Spurrier, Moo State ate him up alive. He did get better after a few games...but he had to fend off Brock Berlin the annointed one from La who was the Gatorade National Player of the year...he fizzled and then transferred to Miamuh.

This is why Del Rio may start the first game or two with our r/s frosh QB...most likely Franks, coming in for some series to get acclimated. There are talented DEs in the SEC that come after him with a fierce pass rush...how will he react? We dont know...scrimmages and spring games arent nearly the same. Thats why we HAVE to run the ball well to protect him from 3rd & longs and I expect we will see draw run plays on third and long to keep him upright.

bullshite. There are plenty of instances of redshirt freshmen playing at a high level and winning a lot of ball games. Franks or Trask will have weapons around them like no other Florida QB will have had since Tebow was here. One of them two will have to be able to play this year. I think we can go 10-2 or 11-1 with some good quarterback play.

We don't need Heisman level numbers from them. Just something better than what we've been getting. Gimme 2800 passing yards, 18 touchdown passes and 8 interceptions and 3 rushing touchdowns and I think that we are contending for a playoff spot next year.

240 yards passing a game with less than 2 touchdowns a game on average isn't that lofty or crazy. Our QB play has just been so atrocious that we forget what even average numbers look like.

I think if there is one big thing Mac harps on to these freshmen it's going to be to take care of the football. I don't think we'll see Franks or Trask throw 3-4 interceptions in a game this year. Mac preaches taking care of the ball. A lot of the times Appleby or Del rio threw picks it was either off a drop or simply a bad throw and they had an open receiver that they just weren't talented enough to hit.

I think you see Mac's fingerprints more on the quarterbacks this year than we did last year.
