Ill say it now, IF Will doesnt piss hot we beat LSU last year, beat FSU last year and possibly this year. We beat Tenn this season And might have taken Bama to the wire.

All of those games are different with a QB who can hit open WRs

While is an important position...lets not forget the other things that decide outcomes...yesterday we did not have

Cox, jr.
Jefferson,
Anzalone,
Jarrad Davis was 60% at best,
Maye,
Sherit,
Dawson,
Washington,

and on offense

Ivey injured, forcing Harkless to play
Calloway not playing with hamstring 40% of the game,
Jordan out,
Scarlett was injured early and thats why Thompson was in

Thats pretty bad folks.

The bright side is that we got reserves a lot of snaps the past few weeks...especially on defense....which will help us next year. I really dont think our defense is going to drop off that much.

To sum it up...a QB cant win games by themselves. We all want great QB play...but with this years OL it would be spotty perhaps. Alex Leatherwood is doing UF on a official visit and he could be the domino we need to build even faster. He went to Pensacola Washington and that is the alma mater of a RB we had years ago....forget his name...Emmitt? His dad was also the coach at Washington back then. We have a chance folks.

If we land Leatherwood it would be huge.

Yeah we went into this game banged up. There was a call Mac jokeingly made to Nick asking can we play 8 on 8 :)

Key guys out, vs the best in the game. We still took the fight to Bama and for a moment we had em on the ropes a little. They had minus yards their first few possessions. If we couldve capitalized and went up 10-14 points who knows?

At the end of the day, Im proud of our guys.

We only gave up -7 yards in the first quarter because they only had the ball for 2 1/2 minutes. One drive starting on our own 13. But I agree the offensive scheme was good enough to compete but still think we would've lost by 2 TD's. Too big of a talent disparity and depth. A lot of the special teams problems were due to missed tackles and depth. We couldn't run the ball at all. Even our reverses were sniffed out and the Bama speed was too fast on the ends. I didn't like the powell flats play after play we were getting open downfield and I lost confidence in the team to convert a short 3rd down last week. Either way it is what it is move forward and recruit well and win the bowl game and on to next year.

I'm beginning to wonder if we've exceeded a smart volume of play for college football players. The jump from high school to major college football is the most extreme, intense jump any of them will ever make. Perhaps we have too many games which leads to too many practices and so on. Maybe a manifestation is increases in injuries.

I'm unaware of any statistics on this issue but it does seem to be more common these days.
