Why doesn't Richardson ever keep the ball? He always gives it to the RB. It's driving me insane.

Same. I'm not sold on Toney, but for me to want blame this on him, you'd have to make an argument that a better coach would be getting better results with these same players.

While I hear some critiques of Toney's formations, I'm pretty sure none of them involve Dean and a couple of others.sticking their heads in their asses pre-snap and keeping them there until after the play is over.

I mostly think these third-and-longs are just left overs from several years of being developed by TG. There also exists a world where the 1s, even not knowing how to cover worth a damn, may still give a better chance to win than what is on the bench.

The biggest problem I have with Toney is that there is no improvement week to week none 0 it's the same players making the same mistakes every fricking week.

So if the same players are making the same mistakes where is the coaching and time in the film room to correct these things.
There is none!!!! That is the problem. No one gets benched for making mistakes you never see the defensive coaches talking to the defense as a whole after they come off the field too rectify some of these problems that is all coaching.

Watch this Defense will make Jaden Daniels look like a Heisman Finalist on Saturday.

Yet Mizzou ran 72 plays for only 370 yards n 17 points while having the ball for 37 minutes while the offense did squat for the whole first half

If not for 3 plays, as a whole the defense played it’s best game yesterday.
13 TFL
4 sacks
2 picks
1 td

To say they’re not improving is a stretch.

I don’t agree. They held mizzou to 17. Probably best overall game all year.

It’s a limited bunch. If they can just figure out how to get off the field on third down they’d be a very serviceable defense.

Also they gotta finish tackles in the backfield. It’s been a theme this year of Cox and others making it to the qb only to miss the tackle. Cost them big at least a couple times in every game this year

It’s Cox, it’s always Cox who one play blows up a play then misses a layup sack or tfl that leads to a big play

That said. Most of our top croots are defense so I’m hopeful for the defense next season.

I hate how open WRs always are. It's like we just let them catch it make the tackle.

Ventrell Miller is a beast and Jaydon Hill looked good he made those some big plays first game back. Wish they would replace rashard Torrence with Kamari Wilcox tho.

Also would like to see Caleb Douglas more at WR. I think he could be good when he gets up to speed.

Johnson and Etienne are great. Best duo we've seen at Fla in forever.

Yeah db

That was against the 86th ranked offense in all of D1 football. Yes 86th so this Patrick Toney defense gave up 72 plays and 370 yards against the 86th ranked offense.

Ohhhhh what a performance.

Getting so much better!!!

all y'all not aware that we had todd grantham a year ago and these players have been playing 4 years under that atrocity of a defense?

our secondary was never going to be elite or world beaters. never has been with these players.

Well, we held em to less yards per play and pts than UGA did. I’d say that’s a pretty good showing ..

It’s ok, you can keep crying

This is why it's hard to go on any Gators board some days.

The "fans" who were calling to fire everybody back in June because a few recruits didn't commit really set a new "Gator Standard" for overreactive fans

For the record, I think there's plenty of valid criticism of Toney, Napier, and many others from what we've seen.

I also think it's too soon to write anyone off completely.

I think gator fans need to chill the frick out. Honestly. 6 games in and already picking a scape goat.

This defense gave up 50 points to an FCS school last year. It's come a long way from that.

They've made some big plays this year, and have played well enough for Florida to be 5-1 if not for the offense being offensive against Uk.

I'm not sure what else you could ask for in year one with these players.

Guy behind me at the game (reasonable guy usually) was saying that this was the worst Gators defense he's ever seen (he was an older guy).

I guess he forgot 2020, and honestly there's an argument that it was worse last year too.

Yeah that too. It's easier to forget with Tebow winning the Heisman.

A lot of 2020 was nearly mitigated by Trask's phenomenal year. If we had beaten A &M and LSU, and still kept it close with Bama, I think he could've won the Heisman that year too. Frickin Mullen and Grantham ruined that kid's chances to get a statue in front of BHG.
