Florida vs. Missouri odds: Early point spread released on Gators, Tigers
quote:

Florida and Missouri are set for a late-season SEC East showdown in Columbia, Mo., and the early point spread for the annual meeting has been set.

Missouri will open as a 10.5-point favorite over Florida, according to early lines released from FanDuel. The over/under is set at 55.5 points.

Both teams are looking to close the year strong after some rough patches recently.

Florida is coming off a three-game losing streak and needs to secure one more win to reach bowl eligibility. The Gators have lost consecutive games against Georgia, Arkansas and LSU, with two of those three games played away from home.

The Gators have really struggled on the road under second-year coach Billy Napier, so the Tigers will certainly feel like they can attack the early point spread and exert some pressure on their opponents.

Because Florida’s defense is so banged up, the Gators will likely need to score some points to hang in the game against a potent Tigers offense. Quarterback Graham Mertz has been sound all season long, and Florida has identified some playmakers in the likes of running back Trevor Etienne, receiver Eugene Wilson and tight end Arlis Boardingham.

Consistency has been the real issue for the Florida offense.

That’s been much less of a problem for Missouri, which has been anchored by quarterback Brady Cook and his steady presence. Throw in the likes of weapon Luther Burden at receiver and running back Cody Schrader‘s tough presence in the backfield and the Missouri offense has been quite good.

The Missouri defense has been good for most of the year but has struggled in the team’s losses. The unit gave up 49 points to LSU and 30 to Georgia.

While the early point spread favors Missouri, the series itself has been pretty even since it began.

The all-time series is tied 6-6 and it’s been remarkably back and forth in that span. Neither team has managed to win three in a row. Florida won the last meeting 24-17, but the Gators haven’t won in Columbia since 2019.

If Napier has a must win game, this is it or beat FSU next week. His support is slipping away along with some of the recruits for 2024 and Gator fans are jumping ship including the guys that write the big checks.

According to pundits and the twitter mob, he's already had several this year

- Tennessee
- Vandy
- South Carolina
- Arkansas

I would like to see him with both of the last two, FSU preferably. But I think he'll be here if he goes 0-2.

This is going to be a tough game. This year Mizzu has a team that is clicking pretty good and has just enough talent at key positions where they can play with about anyone short of teams like GA and Bama. Their defense has been pretty good most games.

Imagine if we lost to either TN or SC now. If we were one of those upper SEC West teams Napier wouldn't even make it to year 3.

I mean, before Saban Alabama had Shula as HC for 4 seasons.

It happens to all big programs.

Bama was just put on probation when he was hired and lost like 21 scolarships over the next few seasons and he improved in year 2 from the terrible year 1 and went like 10-2 in year 3 after the major probation sanctions were mostly done.

This is their once in a few years shot. They have a ton of seniors and super seniors mixed in with some young talent like Burden.

Not going to be as cold as it could be. Lucking out with weather to be honest.

Mizzou is good, but they aren’t beat your brakes off good.. They are fundamentally sound and then take advantage of your mistakes. I’ve watched parts of some games this year. They do what they do really well, but there’s not one single guy that’s overly impressive or will win the game for them.

This could definitely be a trap game for Mizzu coming off that TN win and the Gators losing in OT like that.

Sorry but it’s on the road and from what I’ve seen this year our young defense will continue to struggle.

This team is so wishy-washy. Offense clicking? Defense is high school level. Defense making stops so the offense can take control? Offense takes a break.
So frustrating.

It's a joke at this point, especially considering Napier sold himself as a detail oriented guy. He 100% needs to give up play calling and focus on the details.
