I understand that. I was just wondering why the LSU fan thinks it's a bad rule.

Apparently the refs scored 30 points for UF and then held Arky to 10. That is what I picked up from the Arky posters anyway...

Well, that makes more sense to me then.

I can't find video of it but I don't think Purifoy would've recovered that. And it counted as a 15 yd penalty. It was harsh.

He interfered prior to the ball hitting the ground. So you think once a ball is bobbled the punt returned is fair game and can be clobbered? Our guy was about to reclaim the ball when the Arky guy grabbed a hold of it right?

What?

Your returner was never even touched.

It's just a bad rule. If it doesn't hit our guy in the hands then you don't get the ball back because we would have recovered it on the ground.

Bielema said after the game that he knew it was the correct call however so that's why he didn't argue it.

There isn't a fan base on this board though that wouldn't have flipped out in the heat of the moment if they had been in that situation.

Not seeing much of pig posters on Sunday morning....hmmm I wonder why? They are back in the doublewide licking their wounds.

They talked a fine game for almost a week. The pig fans I saw leaving Ben Hill Stadium aka The Swamp last night looked like they were leaving a funeral.

He interfered with the player prior to the ball hitting the ground. It's the proper rule for player safety. I don't blame Arky fans for bitching about the refs. I just skimmed the first 15 pages of the game thread and every other Arky post was about the refs. Glorius.

Because the ball bounced directly in to his hands.

Regardless, that isn't what cost us the game. If anything, Brandon Allen missing Kiero Small on a wide open wheel route two plays prior was a bigger issue. We shouldn't have even been punting yet if he doesn't throw an absolutely terrible pass.

Bad passes and drops were our undoing much more so than that call. You can't miss those chances against a defense as good as Florida.

He didn't know to leave it alone. Hell, even if he did know, how could anyone resist reaching for it in that situation?

We can do this all day about how things could have been different. I don't care to though.

I was truly curious about the bad refs again though. The first 20 pages of the game thread are littered with one fan base bitching about the refs. It wasn't LSU fans this time.

I was at the game. It was Hubert Owens' crew, which means false starts, no holding, and alot of bad spots. Oh, and the bad calls for both teams. Par for the course.
