Moon was praised by teammates late last year as the hardest hitting player on defense. He is also a bigun in size.
Wild Man from Wyoming is going to wreck havoc on the line of scrimmage...senior DE (my home boy) Sherit is back, CeCe Jefferson, Clark and enough rotation to keep fresh legs.

I was listening to Bob Redmans podcast. Here are some things I remember.
Putu, Shawn Davis, and Marco Wilson have stepped up their game and have eased some concerns about the secondary. He said at times Putu has given some of the hardest hits in practice and looks good in man to man. He has gotta get up to speed on zone though. He came from a junior college that only ran man.
Kyree Campbell has emerged as a solid DT. He will be in that dline rotation.
Oline is playing with a lot more aggression. They don't got the confidence of an elite line yet but they will get there with some time.

Shawn Davis is seeing time with the 1's, as well as Marco Wilson.
Malik Davis taking snaps with the 2's, behind Scarlett.
Some scrimmage notes from Friday...
* Franks threw 2 TD's, to Powell and Swain (supposedly a great throw and catch on the Swain TD).
* Robinson had roughly 5 catches in the scrimmage.
* Vosean picked off Franks... This was Franks lone INT
* Zuniga and Polite made several plays in the scrimmage, the DL as a whole looks to be a strong point for this team.
* Zaire made some good plays with his feet, but was picked off by Shawn Davis.
* Marco, Shawn Davis, and CJ Henderson all repped with the 1's.

I'd really love for our secondary starters to be:
CB - Dawson
CB - Gardner
S - Davis
S - Washington
Wilson as the Nickel DB.
Harris being out for the year really sucks.

Another scrimmage on Friday. The only thing I've seen so far was that Antonneous Clayton had four would be sacks in the scrimmage. Nothing on quarterbacks yet. I imagine there will be more coming out today.

SEC Country article
There’s a caveat to that, though, as coach Jim McElwain revealed that senior safety Nick Washington has been held out of non-contact drills lately because of a shoulder injury.
That’s created the opportunity for Davis to seize a bigger spotlight in practice.
“He’s earned his respect,” cornerback Duke Dawson said. “Right now we have Nick on third team because of his shoulders, but Shawn is doing a phenomenal job right now communicating with the older guys. If he needs help on anything he feels free to ask somebody older than him. He asks me, he asks Nick. Just him being able to take in the install every day and learning what to do is great for him.”
Safety is arguably Florida’s thinnest position group with three-year starter Marcus Maye now in the NFL and leading tackler Marcell Harris lost for the season to a torn right Achilles tendon.
The starting safeties earlier in camp were sophomore Chauncey Gardner Jr. and Washington, with Davis stepping in recently.
The Gators are just as thin at cornerback, though, and Gardner could be moved there if the coaches deem that’s where he’s most needed.
Either way, Florida will be counting on unproven young players to step up at safety. Sophomore Jeawon Taylor came into camp hoping to compete for one of those starting spots and will be in the rotation this fall.
But another guy the Gators were looking at as an expected contributor there has been unable to showcase himself. Redshirt freshman Quincy Lenton missed last season after having surgery to repair a broken foot, and McElwain said earlier this week the young safety has had “a little bit of a flare-up with that foot.” Presumably the same one, though he didn’t specify.
That lost practice time has dealt another setback to Lenton’s attempts to earn a larger role.
“You can say that about whoever misses practice when you’re in a battle,” McElwain said. “The big piece is how you come back and what did you learn when you weren’t in there and how far behind are you or how far ahead are you based on that, too? But he will be a guy that he’s going to have to be not only playing on the field but being a core special teams guy for us as well.”
Beyond that, the Gators will need the freshmen to step up.
Davis has created the most buzz out of that group of young DBs getting work at safety, but McElwain was complimentary of what he’s seen from Brad Stewart and Donovan Stiner as well.
“I think that’s one of those positions you kind of talk about next man up and [Davis] has taken advantage of a lot of that,” McElwain said. “As Brad Stewart has. As Stiner has. Donovan has done a really good job. I’m really pleased with those guys in that group as to how quickly they’ve picked it up, but more than that, how willing they are to go compete. I think that speaks a lot for kind of who they are.”

So the secondary is looking like Davis, Washington, Gardner, Wilson, and Dawson as the 5 when we are in nickel, with Putu and Taylor as the next guys in at corner and safety. It'll be interesting to see how good that unit is relative to last year.
Of note, UF has 84 scholarship players right now, and they will be missing 17 for their next scrimmage, so that will limit what they can do, similar to previous years.
Hopefully that improves heading into the Michigan game. I would hate to lose just because they don't have enough depth.

I actually think it's Dawson, Putu, Wilson, Gardner, and Davis.

You think Washington is going to ride the bench? Or is it because he's hurt?
Posted on 8/20/17 at 2:22 pm to slayerxing
I think Washington being banged up is hurting his chances of starting because Davis is playing so damn good. I think Washington will have to earn it back, doubt they just give his job back at this point.
