What is the deal with the staff not wanting or liking to recruit?

Depends on your view point, if you follow recruiting rankings or on the field results.

UF's 2016 class was 12th in the nation and 6th in the SEC per 247. 9 4*s and 16 3*s. That is not good enough for UF.

UF's 2016 class had 16 guys that were in the 2 deep. A lot of those guys played a ton when UF was injured and did pretty good.

UF's biggest problem is not having a good QB. This year will show if Mac and Nuss can develop a QB between Franks or Trask. One or both of those guys should be better than Del Rio with 2 springs under their belt.

It's not so much about the class rankings as it is about the optics of our class being ranked 24 with 9 days to go until signing day.

Our class will end up fine, but it's just frustrating sometimes. I don't buy silent commits. If they're committed, they're committed enough to tell everybody and not be swayed from their commitment.

This NSD is going to be awesome or an amazing melt.

This is the result of a staff that doesn't push for commitments. They choose to sit back until the kid is absolutely sure he wants to come to UF. McElwain isn't big on pressure tactics, which makes him a subpar recruiter.

I'm convinced it's going to be an awesome signing day. Hopefully its the kind of close that gives us some good momentum going into the spring and into the summer and fall camp this year.

A great recruiter just may be announced by tomorrow (Tues) someone who still has a home near Gainesville and loves UF even though things didnt work out for him as a HC. Im hoping it happens and that will end a lot of bellyaching going forward. Or not.

Herbert said Florida coaches Jim McElwain and Doug Nussmeier will do an in-home visit with him Tuesday.

"I just want to know who the (Gators) offensive line coach will be," Herbert said. "That's the big thing in my recruitment."

Looks like our failure to hire an OL coach might hurt us with him.

Well of course thats who I am referring to and like I've said "or not". Dont think his agent hasnt been contacted either through the channels.

I am sure he may had signals some time ago or not...he is special teams coach at GB. He was DC for the New Orleans Saints when he decided to become HC at UF....Foley and Spurrier both know what he can do.His enthusiasm at UF when he was a special teams asst was unmatched...pure energy.

Have met him several times at fishing tournaments when UF was promoting their brand and influencing $$ boosters. He and Charlie Strong were very at ease among tournament folks. I was certainly not $$ booster with deep deep pockets but I knew some who were But go ahead fincie...never said I had a deep throat in the war room....now did I?

Is Robinson still a take, are we relaxing our stance on pot (supposedly why OSU and others lost interest)?

TJ Moore has reconfirmed his commitment after visiting the campus again. “We talked about the offensive line coach and I think Coach Mac knows who it’s going to be,” Moore said. “He just can’t tell me or can’t release it but he said that the coach would be like the rest of the coaching staff and would be a great person. There’s a lot he said, but I’m not sure if I can say everything.”

Henderson and Blades are rooming together this week at the USA game.

Here is a tweet from a Gators Recruiting insider from today.

"If some things I've just heard happen, we may need to temper our expectations for this #Gators class on NSD. I can say no more right now."

Another insider said this.
" I had previously predicted we would end with a class nationally ranked between 10th and 14th ... I think we are now going to be lucky to finish in the top 20"
followed by this
"take the list of 10 to 12 guys still available that keep getting thrown around as possible additions to the class on NSD and cut it in half. Also be prepared to lose a couple of current commits"

From talks with others this is the speculation Blades flips, Herbert to Miami and Henderson to Bama/Miami. Levi Jones gone. Robinson gone as well to OSU. Green a potential flip to Tennessee.

Here is another insiders info.

Spilling the beans ...

Rumored chatter among a few current commits and some uncommitted guys is that as it stands right now no one expects Blades, Levi Jones, KLH, Conliffe, or Henderson in this class. Also there is a growing sense that James Robinson's relationship with the staff has not improved, and that the Gaddy twins are likely staying in Maryland to be close to their mother even with an OV upcoming. Last, we should not take DaQoun Green's Tennessee visit lightly, there is genuine interest between both him and UT right now.

This is based on private group messages among current recruits that have been forwarded around to others. Take it for what it's worth, which may be nothing ... I at least hope so.

As a side note, many don't expect Lemons to qualify either, but that's per discussion outside of the rumors above.

People and recruits have noticed ESPN and SEC network just aired today talking about our recruiting issues. Several of them mentioned it on twitter today. Great news for us.

That guy is not a fricking insider. Wow. The guy on twitter that promotes a random podcast and claims to know shite, but is trying to make a name for himself off false information. Also claimed Nord isn't on the trail. Don't post his shite on here, it's made up.
