This right here is why I'm still doubting Mitch

“Last year, I don’t want to say he didn’t care, but he wasn’t really into it being that Dylan was our guy,” junior wide receiver Pharoh Cooper said. “He had the feeling Dylan was going to play every game.”

Skai Moore has said Mitch doesn't care to friends of mine. Cooper said he didn't care to the press. Thats the two leaders of the team, one on each side of the ball that not only recognized but vocalized Mitch's lack of interest in the game.

Maybe he cares now but I find it hard to believe.

Never heard anything about this. He's done enough to get the nod from Spurrier. That's not easy to do. I would think Mitch has a competitive drive or he wouldn't have made it this far.

The coaches are pretty good about weeding out the problem kids, look at shaq roland or ahmad christian. Mitch may have not liked starting last year, but most competitors don't like sitting on the bench. We'll see what he does this week and go from there.

That quote looks like to me, that Mitch didn't care last year because baring injury he knew he was not going to play.

Mitch has a chance to win his entire team and fan base over come Thursday. hopefully he takes advantage of the opportunity. otherwise, the chance for him to perform and get results could vanish quickly this season.

the QB from Fleming Island is the biggest physically of the lot and apparently takes care of the ball the best. he's also on record after signing, saying he was gonna work his tail off to start in his second season. that time is here.

"Sometimes he (Spurrier) calls me Scar, but a lot of times he'll call me 'scar-nah-KEY-yah' instead of Scarnecchia. He does whatever he wants. He's earned it."

"I told my mom and dad when I left the stadium that it was probably the funnest and loudest game I've ever been to," Scarnecchia recalls. "They have a great fan base. The have great coaches. The atmosphere is just unreal. There's not a better fan base or a better stadium in the country. I felt really at home there. I just felt like I was part of the family, so it was an easy choice picking South Carolina."

"But it's not really enough for me," Scarnecchia says. "Getting that offer and signing, it's great and everything. But it's just in the past now. I'm really working to get that starting job when I'm up there in my first couple of years and I'm just going to work for it."

"... hopefully if everything works out and I do real well and I outperform the other guys -- and that's going to come with hard work -- I could earn the starting job my second year."

That is from Syvelle Newton who was a GA last year.

Yeah, that's a pretty big red flag. I want to think that he's got the tools to be very successful in Spurrier's offense, but I also wouldn't be shocked to see Scar or Orth before the end of the game.

Hood gosh ... did Syvelle really day that?

Good gosh ... that's not good. Why would he say that? Sheesh - that is so uncool.

Relax. He played better than Shaw did in his first start, that's for sure. He clearly has a lot of improvements to make. But it was his first start, calm down everyone.

Shaw had some awful drops though. Mitch had a delay of game to start the season.

Shaw and Garcia combined vs ECU: 10 / 24 for 137, 1 TD.

Mitch: 9 / 22 for 122, 1 TD.

Mitch had some drops too. I can remember at least 4. 2 that were easy catches.

Again, I'm not trying to say that Mitch will be the next winningest QB in history. But, his mistakes are to be expected at this juncture.

I hate to think this, but Orth might be the best QB. His two passes looked so much better as far as timing and touch than 6-9 completions. Mitch reminded me of Matthew Stafford to an extent, can throw hard but doesn't have touch when needed.

I was happy that he didn't have a turnovers. You two had more completions but he had about a half a dozen drops. He hit David Williams in the chest twice and he dropped it. Mitch can run a little bit, but now he is banged up.

He had some bad throws, but he eluded pressure and didnt take sacks. He threw the ball away several times an avoided the sack. He managed the game, not great, but well enough for us to win. What I saw was more positive than negative, we just have to improve timing and accuracy. He has a good arm and sees the field.

David Williams didn't help Mitch at all. Two drops.

I'm holding out my reservations until I have a larger sample size, but last night was a D- at best.

I honestly believe Mitch is going to be okay ... he has potential. He made a few nice throws, didn't turn the ball over, made a couple of nice runs ... he's going to be okay.

He took some hits and got up and shook it off for the most part.

He's going to be okay men. And the team will begin to follow him the more he plays.

Agreed. Mitch threw some very pretty passes the other night. That pass to Samuel was beautiful, but Samuel couldn't hold on.

The wideouts need to help out a little bit more. Mitch certainly has room for improvement, but the talent is there, for sure.

Every time Williams dropped the ball it made me miss Mike Davis and how good he was at catching the ball.. Same for lattimore. They both had great hands.
