Confirmed today that David Johnson failed a drug test. Boom ain't playing around.

Also, DJ Neal got in the dog house with a few of the coaches. His parents even came down to try and repair the situation, but the damage was done.

That explains why Johnson was behaving the way he was with his lethargic didn't give a shite attitude I guess.

Yeah, I knew Neal had words with a couple of the coaches - back sassed, smart-mouthed kind of stuff. He wasn't doing what they asked, wasn't working as hard as they wanted him to work ... Dillman had words with him especially. Go figure.

But hey, listen. We needed to weed-out the bad element that wasn't willing to work hard and get with the off-season program. We had some serious, seriously bad attitude issues on that team last year.

There are still a few more that have been put on notice. I'll be surprised if we do not lose at least three, maybe as many as five, more before the first of June.

It wouldn't surprise me either. Shaq Roland is coming back if he passes his last few classes this semsester, and this kid named Avery (from Byrnes) who is playing ball at Liberty is looking to transfer in. I didn't know anything about him until I was told today.

I don't get them bringing Shaq back ... unless he has sold them on the "last staff mistreated me" line. He was a problem almost from day one when he arrived, but I get it that at the same time they want to show HS coaches they are committed to the local talent and giving them chances. I just don't know about Shaq though. I've been around him since he was a little kid ... he can be pretty damned entitled and he darn sure doesn't make the right life decisions most of the time IMHO. But I hear that Marcus is standing up and speaking on his behalf, so I guess that was enough to warrant a second chance.

The whole DJ Neal thing reminded me a lot of Kenny Irons, except Kenny never was mouthy or disrespectful ... he just complained about playing time. Neal was complaining a lot and it got under the skin of his teammates and was causing an issue. The coaches were just trying to toughen him up with the usual picking and kidding around stuff and I guess he took it personally. He's apparently a very thin-skinned kid and he just wasn't getting along with anyone. It's better that everyone moves on in his case probably. Not everyone is a right fit. If he ends-up at Va Tech, I gotta wish him well. He was always a duck outta water here.

Have you heard anything about the Avery kid, rooster? I don't even know what position he plays.

Avery McCall? The kid from Dillon? QB I think. I dunno, I have not heard anything about him in what seems like a long time. Did he ever even sign and enroll? CiyE or Cayce might have more on whatever happened to him.

The Avery is a guy from Liberty U who is thinking of transferring in. I looked at their roster and couldn't find anybody, but I have had two different players tell me about him coming to practice, etc.

I'll find out tomorrow ... I remember him now.

Odd that there were three Averys in play this year.

No problem .... and his name is Avery James. He's going to walk-on as a safety. I was told he is around 6-0 200 pds and was originally out of Byrnes, Duncan HS. Supposed to be a really good kid, makes good grades, everyone likes him.

Yup, saw that as well. Injuries etc. real shame. Never contributed in a major way though. I guess this just frees up another scholarship.

He never fully recovered (as much as one even can,) from that ACL injury in HS. I hope he lands somewhere where he can continue to heal up and have an option of playing time. He was a great player for Summerville.

WR Jalen Christian is transferring back closer to home. He missed practice yesterday and went home. Coach Muschamp said today that he has some personal issues and needs to go back home, but he's "handling it like a man," so they are going to help him do that.

No idea what the issues are, but this seems like a baby situation, I'm just speculating though.

Sucks for us though, he had a good shot of being on the 2 Deep.
