I used to frequent Pavs a good bit... there and Jungles as a freshman. Don't laugh, but I actually went to Pavs back in the spring when a friend of mine got married in Columbia. Our group of friends all came back for the wedding from various states, so we stopped by and had a few beers. It was surprisingly dead for a Friday night with school in session.

1) Are you a fratty-type guy? Don't care one way or the other.. just asking.

2) Yeah, when I was at USC (2010-2013), there were a number of shootings in or around the 5 pts area with one student getting paralyzed from the waist-down. That drove a lot of students into the Vista. Not sure if it's ever really recovered. Might help that a new off-campus housing site is now at the top of Harden and Gervais.

3) Thursday nights always seemed to be a big night to go out at USC, certainly more so than other schools. Thursdays and Saturdays.

I wasn't in a fraternity, but had a good many friends that were.

Five Points has gotten better, I think. I am older than you, but I recently moved back to Columbia last summer. Some new restaurants have helped. I still don't think its like it was in its "hay-day."

I'm not sure there was a time I went to 5 pts that cops weren't in front of Sharky's at some point. Isn't what used to be Sharky's like 2-3 different bars now? I know I've been to at least the bottom bar where it was, nicely refurbished for sure.

When I first started drinking I also went to Bey's. Also closed down and has reopened as something else.

Bey's might be called Cover 3 now... or maybe that's what Chubby's turned in to. I can't remember. Chubby's was popular on Tuesdays for their $2 liquor special.
