Now one of my favorite players owns one of my favorite bars.

It was the first bar I went to in 5 pts (or the Vista for that matter)

LINK

Sounds like he's going to put some sports elements in there but claims it won't be a sports bar. Also changing the name. Whether he means to or not he might make it a more fratty place (which I would not be a fan of)

I hope they sell those Carolina hats there with the mullet.

Perhaps no better place to sell than at a college bar.

I used to go to Group Therapy every now and then when I was in college, but it was always a little sketchy for me.

I am definitely going to check it out now though. I actually saw him out front yesterday afternoon on my way home.

I liked Group, mainly b/c guys I went to HS with were bouncers there and I could get in when I was a FR/Soph. I'm pretty sure that was the bar Garcia was at too when he ran from the cops and hid behind the dumpster.

Yeah.. it always did feel like the bar that people who didn't really fit into any other group went to.

I believe you are correct.

I used to see him a lot at Villge when I was a student.

Never was a fan of Group nor did I go much. Probably won't change my mind when come to visit. Don't really fit in with the Clientele.

CIYE,

Did you go to Irmo by chance? I knew two of the bouncers there, and they were former players at Irmo High. I went to USC from 2003-2007.

Send me an email to cockinyourear@gmail.com (and post on here the email you're sending from.) I don't put up to much personal info on these boards b/c there are some bulldogs who would LOVE to know who/where I am.

We've thought of this before, (last time when we both had a buddy who worked up at the State House) I think you and I actually know a lot of the same people.

Yeah, he was over behind the old Knock Knock club getting into trouble and they approached him. He took off and ran all the way down behind Group Therapy. I think he tried to hide in there and they wouldn't let him in so he went behind the alley there.

This is true and also exactly what made Group special. Group always represented everything that Pavlov's/Village were not. When I was in school, it was kind of a funky bar but not too hipster, like Bey's for instance. I never went to Group as a freshmen or sophomore.. I always would go to ParrotHeads (now The Thirsty Parrot), Grandma's (no idea what it's called now, but they still do 'fish bowls') or Good Times (formerly The Library, now IDK). Good Times was a REALLY good bar back then.. they played dance music before Pour House got really into it. ICE, the Indian student club, used to have really fun parties there with a bunch of h*rny Indian pre-med girls... if that was your thing.

My later years of undergrad, I really went through a Pour House phase where that was the only place I would go to (I'm really into dance music). At that time, Pour House played a lot of dance music and so did Group but Group had a license to stay open after 2am. So we would always go to PH first then end the night at GT.

I only would go to Sharkey/Red Hots during the summer months. Nowadays when I'm in Columbia I only go to Pinch because it's less wild and more appropriate for a guy in his mid 20's. I'm looking forward to seeing the new GT though... that place is overdue for a little TLC inside.

Good Time circa 2003-2005 was awesome. $1.25 Yeungling, good music, and hot girls. And the restroom attendant!

Did the guy still work the door at the bathroom trying to spray you with cheap cologne for a tip?

ha. That's hilarious... they definitely had a creepy but friendly guy for a bathroom attendant. I'm not sure if whether or not he showered people in Cologne on the way out though. I was usually drunk out of my mind there.

I used to frequent Pavs a good bit... there and Jungles as a freshman. Don't laugh, but I actually went to Pavs back in the spring when a friend of mine got married in Columbia. Our group of friends all came back for the wedding from various states, so we stopped by and had a few beers. It was surprisingly dead for a Friday night with school in session.
