Who did they get to replace Chris? I have known Chris for a very long time, he helped me out a couple times.

I believe it's probably going to be the assistant Equipment Manager from Bama if my contacts over there are correct ... and they were correct about both Dillman and Jesse - but we'll have to wait and see.

How do you know Chris if I may ask?

AEMA and Coach Holtz.

I grew up near Coach as a kid, within 3 blocks.

Chris helped me when I got my job at SMS as Equipment Manager. He reached out to me at my first convention when he found out was hired

I was youngest D1 head equipment manager at the time and clueless about the administrative stuff.

Jeff Boss (LSU) vouched for me to my school, Shorty (KState), Chris, and Tank Connerly (Bama) all took time my first convention to intro me to certain company heads.

Most of the SEC guys and Billy Pickard (aTm) taught me so much, as they taught a smart assed snot nosed SMS to worry about the players and the rewards come later. I regret leaving that business daily.

How cool is that .... thanks for sharing.

So, you knowing him - you probably understand why I was defending him so vehemently against those that had no clue what the heck they were talking about.

It's beyond most people's comprehension just how good of a guy he is.

Most AEMA guys are amazing individuals and a group of guys who do incredible things.

There have been comments about Eq guys on this site lately that I stepped away because they just don't know.

When you switch Equipment guys it's tough on a team as the routines are broken and yes EQ guys can win or lose a game every week.

They take care of communications, laundry, walk through a, practice schedules, set up, locker rooms, footballs, and whole list of items nobody knows about but the players and coaches know.

Apologize for jumping into the thread uninvited.

No ... it's fine that you are here sharing this with us.

I could not agree more.

Most fans think Equipment managers on take care of cleats and helmets and jerseys ... and they wash uniforms.

They do far far more than that and they are an integral part of the program, the process ... year round.

So I just got back from down there, had lunch with some people, dropped in and visited with some other people to see how things are going ... Larry Waters, from Alabama, is our new Equipment Manager and it'll be officially announced soon, he takes over beginning Monday.

Waters was an assistant at Bama under Jeff Springer.
