All of the talk for Elliot being HC just abruptly came to an end.

I was never aboard that train, anyway.

He gone. And not fast enough.

I can only imagine the carnage that's going to happen next week. The spirit of this team is beyond broken. The staff checked out when Spurrier resigned. I'd love to choke Spurrier to within an inch of his life...and he's supposed to be at the game next week. I'm sure that'll be so inspirational to the team...have the guy that quit on you show up to watch you get your asses handed to you by your most hated rival.

Bring on the fricking offseason.

Elliot never had a shot, but yeah it's a small point. Honestly this loss didn't phase me like a SEC loss. It's whatever...just get to next season.

Serious question though, IF we do beat Clemson, would it be the first time a team lost to a FCS team then beat the #1 team in the nation?

All but Elliott and Mangus, yep.

CSE was coaching with both hands behind his back, and the defensive staff completely pulling the other way. Painful way for him to go out.

I'll always have a lot of respect for Eliott the way that he was dealt a garbage hand and played it the best he could. But results, bud. Results.

I hope he finds a good job next year, and can work his way up the coaching ladder. He's one of the few coaches on this staff who isn't a complete waste of money.

Edit- just saw where Elliott benched Moore for missing practice to attend a funeral. That's unforgivable, CSE.

FWIW there was a meltdown among the coaches in the coaches' locker room after the game.

G.A. is mega pissed about Shawn overruling all his play-calling during the course of the game.

G.A. feels Shawn really hurt his chances to be retained or to even find a good job after this game ... hurt everyone's chances on the staff.

Shawn was checking-down on the G.A. play calling and instead calling his own plays.

A lot of angry emotion in the coaches' locker room after the game ensued.

Whoever called that 2pt conversion play should sit down when it comes to calling plays

Elliot lost me when he didn't fire anybody on defense when he got the job. Just continuing what Spurrier created was not going to get you the job or success.

Probably for the first time ever, I agree with you.

Are you fricking serious??????

I'm seriously beginning to think Elliott is fricked in the head and it's just now starting to show itself.

His insistence on sticking with Orth alone makes a case for him to be carted away in a straight jacket.

Benching Nunez for misunderstanding what play was called in at Tennessee was a peek into his muddled thinking process.

And now benching Moore for missing a practice to attend a funeral?

Guess what Shawn? It's now your funeral that's officially happening and NOBODY is missing ANYTHING to mourn.

fricking Brad Scott throw back son of a bitch.

Well ... I kept posting about problems that still existed with the team, and how there was not good chemistry, especially not the level which was outwardly being portrayed by Shawn and some of the media.

There was/is a lot of dissension on the team and it's far worse now. Probably the worst I can recall at least since the Sparky revolt in '92.

This will take a few years to fix. There will be no quick turnarounds in our near future. This is something that is only going to be cured by getting rid of all the bad element and replacing them with some serious recruits.

I just hope this doesn't scare Herman away.

Honestly, this meltdown of our program so quickly after the 11-2 runs is almost inconceivable. It's difficult to understand or explain. It speaks negatively of our program.

Well hopefully the right coach (ie Herman) will be able to come in and right the ship. The locker room may be in shambles but what he has done with the sideline at Houston is undeniable.

I'm sure most of us watched Houston game yesterday and saw that the players play with a certain fire. The schedule next year sets up nicely for at least a 7-8 win season, maybe more, which may help bring in even more solid recruiting.

I believe that there is enough talent here now, that if the next head coach can come in and fix the locker room, next year might be pretty solid and we can be right back on track.

I dunno about the schedule next year ... we're going to lose some players and we're already lacking players.

He's going to have to work their asses off over the spring and summer.

Thursday
Sep. 1 Commodores at Vanderbilt Commodores
Vanderbilt Stadium, Nashville, TN TBA Buy
Tickets

Season opener on a Thursday night at Vandy ... they'll be much improved. It'll be a tough opener, trust me. Their defense is going to be pretty good next year.

Saturday
Sep. 10 Bulldogs at Mississippi State Bulldogs
Davis Wade Stadium, Starkville, MS TBA Buy
Tickets

Dak will be gone, but the emotion from this season will carry over. We'll be the underdogs. They have not beaten us in at least 15 years so they'll be jacked for this game.

Saturday
Sep. 17 Pirates East Carolina Pirates
Williams-Brice Stadium, Columbia, SC TBA Buy
Tickets

East Carolina, they were very young this year and they've lost a lot of close games. They are going to be greatly improved next season. If they beat Cincy this coming weekend they are going bowling. Not a gimme for us next season, not by a long shot.

Saturday
Sep. 24 Wildcats at Kentucky Wildcats
Commonwealth Stadium, Lexington, KY TBA Buy
Tickets

We will be the underdog going into the Kentucky game. Stoops has recruited better than us and he is returning some players who have never lost to us.

Saturday
Oct. 1 Aggies Texas A&M Aggies
Williams-Brice Stadium, Columbia, SC TBA Buy
Tickets

Again, we'll be the underdog heading into this game vs A&M next season.

Saturday
Oct. 8 Bulldogs Georgia Bulldogs
Williams-Brice Stadium, Columbia, SC TBA Buy
Tickets

Doesn't matter what season it is, we'll be the underdog heading into this game next season vs the dawgs.

Saturday
Oct. 15 --- Open Date --- ---

Saturday
Oct. 22 Minutemen UMass Minutemen
Williams-Brice Stadium, Columbia, SC TBA Buy
Tickets

We might count this one as a win, I guess. I don't know anything about UMass football.

Saturday
Oct. 29 Volunteers Tennessee Volunteers
Williams-Brice Stadium, Columbia, SC TBA Buy
Tickets

Vols will be the heavy favorites in all likelihood.

Saturday
Nov. 5 Tigers Missouri Tigers
Williams-Brice Stadium, Columbia, SC TBA Buy
Tickets

Mizzou will have a new coach. They return more talent than do we ... who knows, I guess it all depends upon momentum by early November of next year.

Saturday
Nov. 12 Gators at Florida Gators
Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Gainesville, FL TBA Buy
Tickets

Gators will be heavily favored at their place.

Saturday
Nov. 19 Catamounts Western Carolina Catamounts
Williams-Brice Stadium, Columbia, SC TBA Buy
Tickets

We'll be favored I suppose.

Saturday
Nov. 26 Tigers at Clemson Tigers
Memorial Stadium, Clemson, SC TBA

meh ... the sheep humpers will be favored, of course.

I really think that any coach that is currently on our radar can make huge strides. Even though our recruiting has been crap, we have still been averaging in the top 25ish classwise.

I think a completely new regime will make a huge change in attitude and team direction.

I hope so Cocky010.

We've got some really bad attitudes ... some players need to go.

Three that need to be gone immediately are Blackshere, Rico McWilliams and Al Harris, Jr. Their attitudes are unacceptable and they have been a problem for awhile now. Al Harris, Jr. started off as a nice, decent, hard working kid but he has gone off the deep end.

Graduation takes care of some of the other problems.

Hopefully, the new coach is Herman. From what Ive read about him, he is detail oriented down to the slightest variable. No way he puts up with bad attitudes if what they say is true.

McWilliams is surprising to me, but I can see the other two. I feel like we have enough talent to get back to 7 plus wins With a good hire. We have some work to do to get back to competing for the east.

Rico was a solid kid when he first got here - but he had to sit around and stew with the injuries and then he fell into bad work habits with the wrong crowd and decided he needed to become part of the problem rather than the cure.

It now seems obvious, but any real insight on Wesley Green taking a redshirt and leaving the program? Was he the smartest kid in the room? Or was a problem child too?
