There is a legit commitment. But I don't think that Patton is it. My money is on Jake Bentley.

JUCO TE Patton didn't commit yet, he will be the top JUCO TE this cycle.
We picked up a walk on Kicker/Punter, Alexander Woznick, from SC. He is for the '16 class though, but again, he's a walk-on. We're trying to build some depth, b/c we'll be losing some K's/P's this coming year and Charlton, former HS #1 P, is still rehabbing his back.
There is supposed to be another announcement today of the actual "#SpursUp" player. There's speculation that it's an offensive player and it might be a QB. Could be Bentley, could be Jelani Woods, we want know until it's announced.

Love it. Hopefully this will gain some momentum with some of the other top players. I know Bentley and Rudolph were having some good conversation at practice the other night. Hopefully talking about teaming up here at USC.

That's a big time pickup. He'll be another Elite 11 QB. Getting him early will also help with recruiting high profile guys around him.

While the above is true, Bentley will have to go to another camp if he wants to go to the Elite 11. The Nike+ rating is gathered by doing different, non position specific, drills. Bentley did finish with the highest QB score, but other QBs like Fromm for instance didn't compete in all of those. 2 E11 invites were handed out in ATL but I don't think Bentley got one.

Several 247 CB projections came in SC's favor today for some '17 prospects.
4* WR Shi Smith had several projections to SC today and this week.
Bartow just projected 3* super underrated NC RB, Javon Leake to SC. (this guy is going to be the best Sr RB in NC this year.)
Bartow also had a projections for 4* DE Brad Johnson to SC.
Dutch Fork WR, Austin Connor, also received a CB to SC.
Rumor is Shi Smith's commitment could come any day now, but probably will come before the summer.

One of those visitors was S/WR Hamsah Nasirildeen. This guy is a stud athlete, he also plays on Concord's great basketball team. He plays at Concord HS in NC which is a winning program with a lot of tradition.
He came in for another UV today. He sat in on the Safety's meeting, had a good time. Good news is he didn't get caught up in all the drama and fallout from the Concord HS basketball locker room incident and Principal 'firing.'

Jake Bentley Jr Season.
I finally got around to watching his highlights and looking up his stats.

He has an arm, he can throw the distance. He is an elite HS QB, he plays with a lot of confidence, but he does throw a lot of balls into traffic, and he won't get away with that in the SEC. He does a good job of going through his checks and setting his feet. He also has some speed and can take off when needed. He throws a VERY catchable ball, good form and spiral. He has great sync with his receivers and throws timely passes to hit them in stride. He has a quick release for a HS QB, but will need to improve that at the SEC level. He also could work on not telegraphing the passes as much (quicker decisions and using peripheral vision.) I'll be interested to see how he improves in his Sr Season highlights.

Possibly, but with the SEC transfer rule for dismissed players, I don't think we can recruit him (meaning he couldn't do the whole commitment thing.) I think that he just has to enroll in the school and that might be the case this Summer I or fall, whenever he finishes his classes at the JUCO.

ah I knew we couldn't openly recruit him but I didn't know that had an impact on commitments.
