re: Football Recruiting Thread (2017 Cycle): Signing Day Updated!

Any idea what recruits are at the basketball game tonight? Just saw half the coaching staff and a few recruits walk by section 113.

I was at cola's when all the guys came in. It is also on twitter I believe. The recruits were:

OL Eric Douglas
OL T.J. Moore
WR Ryan Jones

All from Charlotte's Mallard Creek Highschool

Side note: Jeff Dillman, Lance and T-rob are as cool as advertised.

It's so good to see this staff recruiting 24/7/365 like they are ... our last staff took off this time of the year.

Now, with that said, hopefully those were not official visits. Hopefully the kids drove down on their own, didn't stay overnight on our nickle and they were just here for their first unofficial visit.

I'm not sure how that works if they were given tickets to the game or if they got their own tickets. The rules change so often I can't keep up with it anymore.

Glad to have him. It's good to get a kid close by that could easily come to campus for unofficial visits when other recruits are visiting.

Guys I feel we need to change the title of this thread, since we've now gone way past picking up the very first 2017 FB commitment. Since this was stickied to be the official thread for the 2017 recruiting season, I thought I'd change it....


Also becuase it only just now hit me that I could change the thread title, since I was the one that created the thread. Sorry for not changing it earlier, but I was too stupid to realize that I could do it....

We had some players ranked yesterday. Now we're at #26 on the 247Composite.

4* JUCO WR Stephon Guidry is the #1 Overall JUCO right now.
3* OL Dennis Daley is at an 88 rating and #4 Overall JUCO right now.

These rankings will change once more JUCO players are rated across the country.

Normally, not always, but normally that does not work out well for fired staff, et al. Chris Rumph tried it with Clowney and others but was never successful. Brad Lawing tried it. So have many others who left here or are from here ... it rarely rarely pays off for them and usually they end up wasting their time or being embarrassed. David Reaves is probably the most obvious example.

Not many offers ... NC State was the only other one I guess.

But they must see something in him.

I'm all for all these instate early commits - I just hope they know what they are doing. OLinemen are definitely the ones that can be developed into good players if they have the size and all the skills.

The thing is, no one can confirm that. He did say that "received a full ride to play..." but didn't actually say he accepted it. He was, however, touted as the top 2017 Juco TE.
