So, Rooster..we had the annual prediction thread on tRant for the fans of each team to predict the regular season record for their team.

I believe most everybody here went with 6-6 with the exception of Tip and I, who went with 7-5. I know the final average of all of our predictions combined ended up being 6-6.

What say you on the matter?

Thanks Royal Air and Mr Sinister ... missed y'all too.

CG ... after what I saw last night I'd love to say better than 6-6, but things are really going to have to go our way to eeek-out six wins this season.

Let's say ECU, UMass and WCU we should win.

Then we gotta find three more somewhere.

Vandy we have to win for so many reasons.

MSU ... that'll be a tough one.

At Kentucky is winnable if we get some good breaks and the bounces go.our way.

Mizzou at home ... I hope that one is winnable. It should be.

Tennessee can be beaten if all the stars aligned ... so can Clemson, it's a rivalry game. But the odds of either happening has got to be astronomical.

6-6 seems like the ceiling for us to me this year - if things actually go our way. I hope we do better.

Something I noticed at the scrimmage ... never saw Nunez take the field.

ETA:

This was pretty much my perspective of the scrimmage ... no formations showing so these pics should be okay.

Now this one I took while going through the chow line for y'all (chow was great btw, catered by Chris of Ultimate Tailgaters fame and I mean it was excellent) ... but I took this pic for y'all because if you'll notice the parking lot on the right of the indoor practice facility, that's where the new football offices are going roughly.

And no, there will not be a bowling alley or lazer tag game installed in the building. Taterheads are ridiculous.

I dunno ... I'm proud of how the Gamecock Plaza and Carolina Walk area turned out. Sure beats the helloutta the old Farmer's Market being there.

but how are we going to compete with them on that?!?! Laser tag location is the #1 thing a recruit looks for in a football program.

I know right!

Ray told us that we easily could have "outdone" Clemson with the fluff ... we decided we'd rather keep the facility focused and football oriented.

Well that is what the facility is for anyway. I imagine the Clemmy players will get bored of that fluff stuff anyway.

Getting back to the matter at hand though, we are 9 days away from September 1. What this means to me is that we are going to begin game prep soon, which means we need a starting QB soon. Now if I'm Muschamp, I am not letting anyone know who it's going to be. If we really want to win that Vandy game, you make their DC have to prepare for Orth and McIlwain without knowing which to emphasize.

I know we all want to know who it will be but I think the best thing for us would be to keep it hush hush. Personally, I think Orth will trot out there first, but if he can't get the job done in the first 2 series, we see McIlwain on the third. I really want to see McIlwain in action and I know he has got the stuff to be a force in this league.

You know ... it had somehow escaped me, I guess I wasn't paying attention to Clemson or something, but our athletic department is much wealthier than Clemson's these days. I mean we've surpassed them in a big way ... which, when I was a kid, was unthinkable.

I was also told, when I visited upstairs Saturday .... that we should, as a university, surpass their endowment $$$s and never look back by 2020. Was told we're only twenty or thirty million back which, again, was unheard of when I was a kid. Ben Tillman had stacked the deck against us over 100 years ago and Strom Thurmond had piled on for six decades ... but it looks like the natural order of things is about to prevail. The good guys will win in the end.
