That's actually why I was so uncertain in our first two SEC series. Clemmons was our only stiff OOC competition and we bombed on Sat. and Sun.

Ya know ... I was talking to a buddy of mine about that series with the taterheads earlier today and didn't realize how many strategic changes and position switches Holbrook made immediately after that - until now.

But he switched a lot of things around including the rotation, including both infielder and outfielder duties ... how he pulls certain pitchers, in what order, outta the bullpen, etc.

There may be hope for Holbrook after all. He just may be getting a feel for things.

Webb deserved SEC Freshman of the Week. Hell, he really deserved National Freshman of the Week IMHO.

Anyone know who is starting for us against CofC tonight?

They announced last night that Eric Bauer was going to start for CofC tonight. That's the guy I thought they were going to start. He began starting midweek games for them 2 weeks ago. His ERA is just over 3.00, he doesn't get a lot of strikeouts, but he throughs the kind of pitches that end up being groundballs to the infield.

Vogel better not come back out next inning. That was garbage. He had 2 outs and a guy on 2nd, then he loads the bases, allows 2 runs and has a wild pitch on loaded bases.

This is the shot that pisses me off about Holbrook .... Tanner would have never let Meyer convince him to continue down that path.

Glad we battled back. A little lucky and unlucky at the end. Really hate that ball bounced over the wall, but we were lucky to be in that position. Take 2/3 this weekend, and it will be a successful week, IMO.

funny how that worked out. If that ball was in play, we would've won, but a ground rule double cost us the runner on 1st from scoring. He would've made it to home base, unless the CF made some epic throw from the fence and skipped a cutoff man.

Exactly... but also, Dupre Hart bobbled the final out of the game a few plays before. Baseball is a funny, funny game.

Holbrook went nuts when the players stormed the field. I think he is the only one who knew that the runner couldn't score on the ground rule double.

When you have 4 really good pitches with solid command in College you're practically unhittable. Webb may have the best "stuff" I've seen in a Carolina uni.

Huge win tonight heading to the rubber match tomorrow.

Webb has good stuff, he did hit a stretch there for a couple innings where his fastball went high and his slider went into the dirt after that corrected he was gone again.

Good win tonight.

Webb was straight nasty at times. helluva outing by that young man.

Destino's catch - from the pursuit to the impact to the ground you'll never see a better one. fearless - the longtime trademark of Gamecock baseball.

here's the good news...

Alex Destino ?@Destino_15

Thank you everyone for the kind words and thoughts, I am indeed fine, ready to win a series tomorrow!

Huge game from Webb and great win by the Gamecocks! After that uncharacteristic start to the game last night by Schmidt that allowed 4 1st-inning runs by the Commodores, the Gamecocks have out-scored them 7-2 since.

Lets hope that continues tomorrow. One good thing is that with Clarke's 8-inning complete game last night, and Webb going 8 innings tonight, needing only the 1-nning of 16 pitches from Reagan, our bullpen will be as healthy as a bullpen can be for tomorrow. Reagan can make another appearance tomorrow if need-be.

Another great outing from Adam Hill would be fantastic, but we'll have the arms ready to go if we need them. Lets get the series to go 8-1 through the 1st 3 SEC series, something I don't think even the most optimistic of fans imagined happening...

Webb really frustrated the Dores last night ... you could see it in their faces and body language. I think the meat of their order went 0-fer, six or seven strickouts from them alone. Eleven total, from Webb alone, for the game if I am not mistaken ... not counting Reagan's.

The Yardcocks are playing good ball right now. I was a little worried about them bouncing back after losing two in a row, especially given the tough extra inning loss to CofC and then the opener to Vandy on the road ... but this team is showing some intestinal fortitude that is paramount to championship caliber teams.

How they will handle their inevitable slump is yet to be seen but, for now at least, we gotta love the cut of this team's jib ... they are fun to watch.

Taking the rubber game today in Nashville would be huge - 3PM on the SEC Network. I'm shuffling my honey-do list stuff around today just so my Son and I can sit down and watch the game this afternoon.
