Holbrook in the presser mentioned that Caldwell came out today because of a bad back, awesome.

A much needed series win to get our season back on track, but we need to heal up these injuries in a huge way. Bama is having a surprising season, and come to Carolina Stadium next weekend. Davidson and USC-Upstate are the mid-week opponents, so we need to do well versus those and not go deep into our BP. After Bama the rest of the SEC series are easier IMO, but we only got 4 more to go...

Very interested to see how we'll fair against Bama this upcoming weekend but can't overlook the midweek games. At least we'll have Pankake & Mooney back for those, probably won't see Greiner in 1 of those games just because he is in dire need of the day off, maybe even both. Really need Beal to go deep into one of these games this upcoming week and bounce back from his performance against CSU. You're right though Bama maybe our toughest test for the rest of the regular season as Vandy is a little down this year by their standards.

Injury update after tonight:

quote:

Holbrook was not optimistic about Max Schrock.

"I'm not optimistic about him being able to return any time soon. He may be out for the rest of the year. He may not be. But the injury that he has with his back, it might need more time to heal than our season's got left. It may need a couple months."

Connor Bright's elbow is "getting better" and he could have pinch hit Tuesday if needed, but he couldn't throw. Holbrook is hopeful he can play Friday but admitted that might be a stretch.

Elliott Caldwell's sore back makes him "iffy at best" and he probably won't play this weekend.

Vince Fiori is definitely out this weekend but may return for the Georgia weekend. Evan Beal has been cleared to pitch and might pitch Wednesday.

24/7 reporting that Caldwell's out with a stress fracture in his back for 6-8 weeks, likely to miss remainder of season.

Bright, Schrock, & Fiori however are all scheduled to make the trip to UGA this weekend.

Just when it seemed like South Carolina was starting to get healthy, now there's a virus circulating through the team. Infielders DC Arendas and Jordan Gore were both at the doctor's office on Thursday morning and have not practiced this week. Both players, however, will travel to Georgia but will go by car with trainer Brainard Cooper so they're quarantined from the rest of the team.

Connor Bright (elbow) and Max Schrock (back) will both make the trip. Bright should be able to play in some capacity while Schrock is doubtful.

Closer Joel Seddon took ground balls and batting practice this morning and will be an emergency infielder this weekend.

It will never end.

They need to individually seal each player in a Rubbermade suit and make them sleep in vats of antiseptic cream, for the rest of the season....

And tell them not to share each other's girlfriends!

UGA up 1-0 going into bottom 6

Watching a stream of the game with the UGA announcers and they saw a lady wearing bunny ears out there for Byron.

They had no idea why and were talking about Easter being 2 weeks ago

eta- 13 straight retired

Goodbye to our national seed hopes most likely after this weekend.
