Two other things I look at before getting too bent out of shape about a subpar first year.

JQ, First let me say I appreciate all MU fans regardless of how they approach their "fandom" and your positivity is a commendable trait. We just happen to process what we see and hear in a little different way. I probably view things in a less forgiving prism and I have gone way beyond the "fool me once,,fool me twice shame on me" lesson. So with that let me address your two point/reasons for having more patience with my judgement.

Point 1. Just because for lack of better words "Regardless we are stuck with him..3-4yrs" does not ring home with me positively. While perhaps a bit extreme it is like the old "If rape is inevitable then..." and not to get political same analagy for an elected President who you may be worried about where he is taking the country. In both instances would it not be best to "resist" whether or not your resistance may lead to your desired resolution?

Of course a rooting self interest differs to a certain extent and populist fan support may in some degree ever small help with the product on the field performance + subsequent recruiting efforts. However, that leads us to the chicken/egg first conundrum. Some how, some way BO or whoever it may be needs to break through the ever predictable chicken/egg circle and get us a more linear path to continued success before I can readily invest more emotional capital reasonably thinking I will get ROI.

Point 2, You are accurate that "fancy recruiting" (I feel as though you believe this is impossible for whatever reason you accept that) on its own won't lead to success. While I agree it seems that you are making a built in chicken/egg excuse that I don't buy. Facilities notwithstanding I do take a positive outlook that FB has the same ability to turn things around as the BB program haa shown coming off 3 disastrous years. Martin walked into a worse situation than BO and yes I Know there are some differing dynamics between the sports.

What I am saying is that what some interpret as negative or bashing really comes from a positive honest perhaps rosey belief that there really is no reason we cannot accomplish great success ànd as vested fans we should not only expect but demand it even if that may not be the easiest or most convenient approach. Just saying.

P.S. Martin had some luck fall his way and he is taking advantage. BO in theory has luck coming his way in the form of a once every 3-4 yr bumper crop of in state recruits where he Should have a bit of a built in advantage. This year without a doubt is a pivot yr for BO. If he does not somehow/some way break through to take advantage, then the chance my assessment will ever be proven wrong becomes extremely remote. ERGO my previous quote "I hope to be proven wrong sooner rather than later" because sadly a "later" positive outcome will virtually not happen. In my book this year is a do or die year for BO put simply.
