Based on beer? Then as an LSU alum maybe but even that's debatable. But overall atmosphere and food.. Overrated.
And tbh, Chimes doesn't count as a true destination bar in most circles.. Unless you live on or right off of State St.

This. I have a hard time classifying anything outside of 5 points as a college bar. I'm not saying I dislike the whig, it just has always struck me as more of a hipster bar than anything. I didn't even know it existed until after I graduated.

The Monkey Wrench just recently closed and I don't know that it was ever a "college bar".

Agree. I'm old and i would guess that it caters to me more than college students.
The Globe was were the professors and student teachers went to get drunk. When I think of college, the last thing I'm thinking of is professors and 7th year students.
I am out of touch as to where the 18-21 year olds go. But it isn't The Globe.
