The Whig can be a lot of fun if you hit it on the right night, but I was shocked it was tops in Columbia. The Salty Nut is still my favorite "college bar" here.

Sorry but I think that there are better bars at LSU than the chimes, but I do love the atmosphere there

Never considered The Whig to be a college bar. I always thought it was for young pros or grad students.

I fricking hated Salty Nut, but that's definitely more a college bar than The Whig.

The Nut was the frat palace before it burned down and was renovated.

Everyone is talking about how shitty the list is but we should all thank anc for making this thread and doing the legwork to get pictures of every bar. That's tedious work and I appreciate it.

Flying Saucer? Lol no.

Hahaha, I know. These lists always suck so bad. It's like they just close their eyes and point at one on Yelp

While this is a solid list I have to disagree about the Fayetteville entry.

The only choice has to be Bottom's Up. Come for the fully nude dancers. Leave for the STDs. Pick up a contact buzz drifting from the dancer's dressing room. Dodge the year round population of insects but make sure to tip that sexy roach strutting its stuff across the stage before a dancer steps on it.

I mean saying Flying Saucer is the best bar is like saying Newks is the best college town restaurant in Tennessee

Bama thinks Newk's is the best restaurants in Tuscaloosa. They fed Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Newk's when he visited. Trashy, right?

the CO choice isn't even a college bar.. and it's lost it's luster under new mgmt.

The Sink in Boulder is the obvious choice, Robert Redford washed dishes there as a freshman.

This is 2017, not 1997. Tacos at taco bell were over $1 five years ago when I was still in college

That's some seriously backwards inflation.

The new houndstooth is a soulless warehouse with zero atmosphere.

The Globe is in no way, shape, or form the best college bar in Athens.

The distinction would probably belong to Silver Dollar, Sand Bar, Woodford, or anywhere that isn't nearly as nasty, but still as fun, as Flans.

Depends on what they're looking at. In terms of food and drinks the Chimes is very good. Though if we're talking "college bar" I imagine a place like Fred's.

I had an accounting class at the old BA on Thursday's, and Salty Nut was where we would start the weekend after.
