This is a good cool-headed comment. LSU has no quality linebackers... none... for next year. Only about 7 LBs are on the roster, and most of those are converted RBs, Ss, or DEs. The group average recruiting rating is below just about every team in the SEC. It is hard to play a 3-4 without a quality LB corps.

The front DL is not stellar except for Key. The prescription applied by Auburn and Florida, run right up the middle, will be tried again and again.

Secondary will be new. Overall the defense has a lot of questions about quality. Can they overcome it? Maybe... but when every element is questionable maybe there really is a question.

Can the offense make up for the defense? Should be serviceable... but really, do you think the WR, QB and OL are top half in the SEC? Probably not.

Now what about 5 SEC road trips? LSU is likely to lose four of those, and will lose one more at home.

I'm not sure LSU can beat BYU in Houston. BYU will have a senior QB and a disciplined team.

I'll say LSU will be 7-5, but could be 6-6. That is after I've compared the teams the opponents will have vs the returning players LSU has. Perhaps LSU can out "X&O" the rest of the conference with their coaching staff and innovative schemes. I'll watch for that.

LSU the next 2 Years by TigerFan4040
Is in such a unique, nothing-to-lose position here. If Coach O doesn't succeed, its the same old same old, I told you so which us LSU fans are more than used to anyway and we will have to do a serious re-build.

And this is why it is so difficult for me to pull for LSU. Arrogance.

I threw my hands up when he offered Tua and pissed off Brennan. We just need a guy with a good head on his shoulders who can make plays. I could careless whether its with his arms or his legs.
Many adults in the LSU fan base threw their hands up as well and are now extremely cautious. You don't do something really stupid like that when you have one of the top Passing QB's in the country already committed.

If this helps you sleep at night then OK. But saying you have "nothing to lose" is such garbage. You have everything to lose. Your program will slip even further to the back of the pack

Honestly it depends on the oline. If they can perform against the better defensive teams (like Bama) then we can be elite. If not, then more of the same. Doesn't matter (enough anyway) how good the play calls are, if Bama's Dline is in the backfield in 2 seconds every play we aren't going to score enough to have a shot.

Just stfu OP. Coach O stinks and he's going to run this program to the ground. Just deal with it.

We actually have a lot of quality young guys who you haven't seen much of that are going to get their shot next year in the front 7. Ed Alexander, R. Lawrence, Glen Logan are big guys you will hear about next year upfront. Devin White, M Divinity, R Thornton are LBs who will be making plays. All of those are 4 and 5 star guys. We have some good ones coming in on the Dline this year too including ,maybe Wilson. I am worried about our LBs in this class, only 1 committed right now. Not worried about our secondary.

Really the only thing we truly have an issue with is the oline. I don't care what PFF's rating said, you guys were in our backfield in 2 seconds almost every play. If Deculus can come in as a true freshman and play LT at a decent to high level, and Weathersby can play RT to his potential after dealing with injuries most of last year, that might change. Tackle play was really bad last year to me.
